They slapped me on the face,
dragged me away in chains,
never gave me a chance to speak or protest,
kicking and hitting me along the way,
sneering at me when I was before them,
spitting at me,
mocking at my belief in Him,
forgetting the good I have done for them.
"You are a believer of Jesus,
you are going to jail for your faith.
Now, is there anything else you will
want to say?"
Many, I wanted to scream.
Many, I wanted to shout.
Many, I wanted to cry.
But I knew they would not understand.
So, I fell on my knees before them,
wept and said, "Oh Father,
forgive them for they know not what
they are doing."
Written for my friend Gina, who is persecuted for her righteousness, and for the many brothers and sisters in Christ around the world who are persecuted for their faiths.
