The Patriarchs

Hi This is a 12x16 acrylics on canvas from a scene in Zion National Park in Utah. A methodist minister had named these mountains The Patriarchs. The Mormons later added a Moroni to the grouping. That's the white one in the back right I think.

Really interesting formations, and this captures the feel of them without getting too complicated in the greenery below, etc.

When you look at your reference is there any hint of cool temperature in the shadows? I would think some of that blue/purple sky would get in there somewhere reflected. I would tie it back into the sky.

That's a great idea. I think i made the sky a little too dark and saturated in this one but haven't had time to correct it yet. .
