  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't think anything of it. It's a very violent movie. I can certainly understand why some people would not want to view it. Plus some people want to go to the movies to be entertained or for light hearted fun. With the world being so violent and ugly, I can understand not wanting to see more violence and paying to see it at that. This wasn't cartoonish type of violence. This was just plain brutal.

I went to see it and I found it to be a very moving movie experience. Other members of my family hated the film and still others refused to see it. I don't think anything of it. It's just a matter of personal taste.

It is indeed a brilliant film - but it didn't have the personal impact for me that it did for others, despite it flooring me.

It was certainly the same sort of film as Braveheart, the last film Gibson directed. Now I love that sort of film, Gibson is brilliant at visceral drama, but in the case of the story of Jesus it only gave it an element of unreality instead of showing me something about the reality of Jesus' suffering.

It's certainly not a film for everyone, if you couldn't take the violence in Braveheart you certainly won't be able to handle The Passion.

I have a athiest friend who wanted to go see it and laugh during it. I told whether he believed in it or not, Jesus still was crusified on the cross, but he wouldn't believe me. Stange, I just think most of them who won't watch it are just strange ;) since it's very well done regardless if you believe in it or not.

How bizarre. Even if you don't believe Jesus was God in human form, him being crucified is a simple historical fact, with more evidence to it than Julius Ceaser existing or that Shakespeare was the one who wrote all those plays.

And yeah, if nothing else, it's certainly a powerful film.

I don't think much of it because it is a very deep, convicting movie for some people and they cannot take it...as long as they understand that the sacrifice was for them.
I'd actually worry more about those people who see this movie and don't take anything away from it. I know one gril (kinda a Christian but she's working on it) and she saw it when it frist came out. The only remark she had was, "I dunno, I didn't feel very much..." I was like, "WHAT?!?" I don't understand how you could watch all that suffering, knowing it was for you, and not be somewhat moved.
Oh well.

This film brought me back to God. I had been struggling with my faith ever since my home town was bombed. (omagh, N.Ireland) Seeing this film made me realise exactly who and what I had turned my back on. Some parts I wanted to turn away but forced myself to watch it. The best thing was seieng some people who had really only goine to see what all the fuss was about. There was a group of 3 guys in front of me and they were trying to hide thier tears from each other without realising they were all crying.

Fantastic film!

Anyone who says it is not true ignore them.
Anyone who says it is against Jews is talking rubbish. There are many Jews represented in the film who do not like what is happening and do not want to see it happen. The rest are obviously being led by the jewish leaders and it also makes it clear that Satan is working in the crowd.
And anyone that says it wasw too violent is ignoring the fact that it would have probably been worse. They didn't simply say. " Here you go Jesus just hop on this cross for us. Be careful don't want to damage your face now do we. Thanks. "
Some really nice cuts between Jesus's entrance to the city and his journey to Calvary as well. Very good film from an artistic and christian POV.

The movie was incredible in the theatres. It really pained me to see "almost" exactly what he did and went through for us.

We bought the DVD shortly after midnight last night.

God bless!

Saw the movie. Very interesting. Heard the Easter story all my life, just never really could visualize it. Do you know who helped Him? The one the soldier picked out of the crowd? We watched it after the kids were asleep, and I had the most peaceful sleep afterwards! Knowing He went through all that for not just me, but for the whole wide world. I wonder if there's to be a sequel? Like, He is Risen?
