The Orange Box

Anyone else playing the Orange Box yet. I got it for pc and its pretty amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone with a pc/xbox 360/ ps3, the amount of content and replayability is amazing.

Portal would have to be my favorite, just because some of the puzzles are really fantastic. The story and atmosphere of the game is really well designed and because of the multiple ways to solve puzzles you can replay levels more then once.




The other two games are also great.

yup i preordered a couple weeks ago and im loving hl2 episode 2 so far..... was a bit disapointed with the opening stages of it but its begging to pickup now. haven't tried portal yet but will once im done with ep2

So far liking what I see. Portal's awesome, though stuck on room 19 first go through. Played Half Life 2 on original xbox and it still looks great even today. Episode 1 is pretty alright, but only 5 chapters? Seems to only be a set up for Episode 2, which I have yet to try. Not done Team Fortress 2 yet. Will after Episode 2.

I beat it not two hours after the last post of mine... and I too loved the ending. I recorded the song to mp3, so now I can listen to it whenever!

I've found that the value is split up like this:
Half Life 2 - $20
Episode 1 - $15
Episode 2 - $15
Portal - $10 (Like an Xbox Live Arcade title)
Team Fortress 2 - $0 (Yeah... really, it's not that great, even those who were absolutely thrilled about this were severely disappointed)

But Portal is awesome and slightly addictive. Watch the credits!

You sure about TF2? I've gotten 90+ on metacritic and looks to be really well done?

I am getting it solely for that, if it sucks, I dont' really want the rest, and I can buy Portal standalone...

Yeah, TF2 is terrible. You get 6 maps, each with one assigned game type, only one of which is Capture the Flag (and it's grossly small, at that), the others are split between control points and territories which is basically like Halo's Territories where you have to find the control node, capture it, and keep it from being captured. If you want multiplayer, get Halo or Unreal, TF2 is probably the worst choice out there.

You get 6 maps, each with one assigned game type, only one of which is Capture the Flag (and it's grossly small, at that), the others are split between control points and territories which is basically like Halo's Territories where you have to find the control node, capture it, and keep it from being captured. If you want multiplayer, get Halo or Unreal, TF2 is probably the worst choice out there.

I dont like the class sytem that much, to many people that just use that same class and play for hours every day. The maps are fine IMO for what its supposed to be. People who didnt like, or play, the original team fortress wont like this one either.

I just got it the other day. I played Half-Life 2 on my PC about 2 years ago, but I never bought Episode 1. I just finished Episode 1 today and I'm currently at the beginning of Episode 2. I plan on playing HL2 through again just to get achievements and to relive some of the good times I had playing one of my favorite games of all time. I love Portal! It is such an awesome and hilarious experience. Sure, it's pretty short, but it is a game that can be replayed over and over before getting old. I'm currently getting into Team Fortress 2. I really like many aspects of it. To me, it's sort of like Counter Strike meets Battlefield meets Halo. The actions fast, but their are so many things that make you have to use teamwork. The traits of many of the characters are awesome as well. Overall, I'm really loving this little compilation of games. It will definitely keep me drawn in for a while.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you there, bud. I realize that some people will hate it, but in no way is TF2 terrible. It's actually a really well done multiplayer experience. The balancing of the characters is great, and their abilities really make the game a lot more interesting. I'm a fan of Halo and CSS, but I'm still finding myself liking TF2 just as much as the latter. Now, I think Valve needs to release new maps (which I'm sure they'll do), but once that happens, it will make my experience with TF2 all the better.

Speaking of, I've uncovered all but 2 of the 11 secret achievements for Orange Box. A couple are for going through Half Life 2, but the majority are for going through Episode 2. I guess they didn't want to put any spoilers in the Achvs.

I actually played some just now. It's still below alright, but at least now it's up to bearable. Who knows, may have just been the guys I was playin with. Though the bright cartoon graphics made my head hurt, so it's off to bed with me.
