I'm not allowed to flame you, Danie ;)

I think my first exposure to Zep was through that song from Godzilla that Jimmy Page was on with the Kashmir riff. I bought a Best of album a month or so ago and think it rocks; bought a Who one at the same time and think it's cool too.

Fave Zep song: Black Dog
Fave Who song: Won't Get Fooled Again (the clip for it is just sensational)

Great thread!!
Its ironic that both these bands are in the same thread - when I was 12 or 13 is when I got into classic rock, and the first bands I heard were Zeppelin and the Who!

Favorite songs:

Led Zeppelin: "Ramble On" or "The Lemon Song"
The bass in the Lemon Song is one of the best examples of bass-playing ever, IMO.
No Quarter is a runner up - that song is amazing~! I heard somewhere that its about the battle in the Fellowship of the Ring in the Mines of Moria. A lot of Zeppelin songs have Lord of the Rings themes in them.

The Who: "Love, Reign O'er Me" or "Wont Get Fooled Again"
Substitute & Drowned are close runners up.

Fantastic idea for a thread heavenlieisland

My choice would be

The Who............."Behind Blue Eyes" same as you!
Led Zeppelin............"Dazed or Confused" .....Live ...from song remains the same live album.

When I entered high school in grade 9, my high school played "2 minute music" before class in the morning and after lunch so we would know when to make it on time. Black Dog was played at least once every couple of weeks and was the first song played on my first day in high school.

I started high school listening to Zep!!!

Whole Lotta Love has been my favorite Zep song for a long, long time now.
Sometimes when Def Leppard is playing "Rocket", they incorperate Whole Lotta Love into the solo. Ironically for this thread, when I law Leppard last fall, they played "My Generation" in the solo! I almost soiled myself when they did that!

A couple of nights before the US declaired war on Iraq in Bush's oil war, I went out to my favorite blues bar in Edmonton. The band ended the night by denouncing the war and played a War Pigs/Won't Get Fooled Again piece that lasted about 15-20 minutes. It was completely euphoric.

Hehe, my dad saw Led Zeppelin in concert once... He loved it! I'm a big fan of Led Zeppelin myself. My favorite song from them would be "Dazed and Confused". :)

The Who toured last month...I would have loved to have seen them, but couldn't find the time. I think I'll probably only get to see them on video or DVD anyways...:)

I prefer Black Sabbath to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd to the Who, but hey, they are still great. My favorite Who song is "Baba O'Reilly" and favorite Zeppelin tune is "Immigrant Song".

Oh yeah, just my personal preference. Pink Floyd is probably better than the Who, but then again, it would be hard to argue objectively (Nadro will love that ;) ) that Black Sabbath is better than Led Zeppelin.

My dad saw Led Zeppelin at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, He said it was nuts, there two two different shows but there were still people without tickets and apparently at the concert he wa at, people started stroming the building and eventually broke through some glass walls! The place got packed!

Anyway, I don't really have a fave Zep song, it changes all the time. Right now I'm loving Tangerine, but I also love Immigrant Song, Whole Lotta Love, Since I've been Loving You, Going to California, When the Levee Breaks, Ramble On, No Quarter (both from Houses of the Holy and The Song Remains the Same), Dazed and Confused (live from Song Remains the Same) and Stairway to Heaven (also live from Song Remains the Same).
