  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To all the fans of the greatest comedy ever heres a question to you. What is the greatest funniest office monment?

Mine is when Michael offends the Indian Woman at the Dundie Awards he is so offensive.

dont mention the American Workplace in the same breath as the original Office.
they just cant compare.

i have so many favourite moments:

David: Theres some bad news and some good news. The bad news is Neil will be taking over both branches and some of you will lose your jobs. Those of you who are kept on will have to relocate to Swindon, if you want to stay.

LOUD GRUMBLES OF DISSENT FROM STAFF

David: Yeah, I know, I know. Gutting. Gutting. On a more postive note, the good news is - I've been promoted. So, every cloud......

:D

or in the training day episode in the first series when David gets his guitar and ends up playing "freelove on the freelove freeway" :D

"its not gay" :)

or in the comic relief episode in the second series when Neil and Jennifer are making David redundant and he stands up to reveal that he's dressed up so it looks like he's riding an ostrich!! :D or, from the same episode the dance he does!!!!!

classic comedy
the american version just doesnt compare - although its not as bad as i thought it would be. Steve Carell does a good job just not up to Ricky Gervais standard.

did you get the original series' over there ?

there were so many brilliantly funny moments with ricky gervais character, but the character played by martin something and his then on off girlfriend who was the receptionist constantly winding tim up about his time in the army would have to be the best for me ;)

they showed the original on BBC America over there and i think they may have shown it on one of the major networks but i cant remember.

definately try and get your hands on the DVDs of the original! if you liked the American office you'll absoulutely LOVE the original!! its so much more embarrasing its so funny.

for the American version i liked the episode which had something about racial awareness. they all have to stick the names of different races onto their foreheads and had to describe them to each other. the camera pans across and it has a white person with "asian" on their forehead, another white person with "jewish" on their forehead, etc. until it gets to a black guy it is says "black" and he's sat there with a deadpan expression! it made me laugh so much :D

even THAT still cant match up to the original though!

oh david brent makes me laugh so much! especially the whole redunancies saga. another fave is when tim and gareth argue over the stapler and time says that if the stapler which has just been thrown out the window kills anyone, gareth will be blamed because it had his name on it! makes me laugh every time. also when tim forces gareth to call him to speak to him, it's so petty.

and of course i love freelove of the freelove freeway.
