The number one quality?

I thought I knew.... hands down. Then I got to thinking of a particular person and incident and it made me reconsider. It really IS possible for someone to be godly (or at least religious) and also treat others like a jerk. Don't want that, either.

Jesus said the greatest commandments were to love God with all of your heart and love your neighbor as yourself, so that gives me something to think over.

Good responses, everyone. Even the person who said simply "living" (I happen to know she is anything but desperate.)

What quality (physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual) do you desire in a potential spouse above all others?

For me it's compassion. A fervent, active faith assumed in light of the fact that everything is nothing without it, most definitely a compassionate heart. It is the mark of the Lord, and the mark of a good husband and father. A compassionate heart is empathetic and benevolent; doesn't look down on others in arrogant judgment; and leads for the glory of God and others, not self. Compassion chooses a love that's unselfish for the purpose of blessing the life of another and always extends patience, mercy, and forgiveness.

That he always strives to walk closer with Christ.

That includes a constant attempt to strengthen his faith, become more loving towards others, and see life in a more positive light, never 100% satisfied with who he is, but happy with how he's progressing in life and always hopeful for the person he can become.

That would be the ideal spouse for me because I try to do those things in my own life. I think that's what spouses should be - companions and teammates on the journey to become better people in Christ.

As long as he's trying, I can put up with a whole slew of flaws!

Number one as in first thing I'd notice about a girl that would get my interest?

Curly brown or auburn hair -- a double notice if she has freckles.

What I desire more than anything? Someone who would love and respect me for me.

She has to be willing to be a Youth Pastor's wife though, and that pretty much means she has to love Jesus sacrificially, and has to have a servants heart.

sure why not? But mostly other people. That is my weak point I think. I work on it and God is on this with me.
But she needs to love animals, plants, etc and mean it. That means a deep abiding faith in the Holy Trinity and in me secondly.
