Your ego is showing again. I daresay, you can hardly claim a terribly "careful study of the Bible" if you can't even square it with what is, empirically, gob-smackingly apparent; the methods used by the various sciences are repeatable, reliable, and available to all who would deign to engage them. Ignorance is, ultimately, no excuse in this case.
What? Philosoft. I detect a bit of competitiveness in you. humorus to say the least, but I'm not up for the one upmanship game.

The Juxtaposition of the to dissonant ideas demonstrate a certain lack of forethought. Either way, it was a nice try.

That's what I am trying to tell him...lol
Actually I am not looking for science to validate refute my interpretation. Where the bible is concerned there is no authority greater (on Earth) than the bible. I compare scripture with scripture. And as for the argument that 6000 years ago we wouldn't have understood it, so that is why it is written like that... I would argue that point all day.

And yet another dodge. Sopharos, where's that irony meter?

Blown through the roof, and w81minit owes me $NZ 20 for that. So I brought Lord Vader along to help me:

Yes there is: God. Which one do you believe? God of the Bible or God that created?

I dig the pic. Very funny and all. Clearly we are seeing the same things and perceiving them differently. Since it appears to be one against 4 or 5, I find that all I have time for is typing short answers. It can wait.

Great thread. Deteriorated greatly toward the end. I detected the venom from the dark side of the force during the last few posts, but I guess after this long a discussion it is to be expected.

Prove that Genesis is not allegory.
Which part? There are quite afew chapters leading up to Joseph and the children of Israel going to Egypt to survive a famine.

Prove it isn't allegory. Not just a compelling theory either. Prove it. Show me a note from God.

Don't assume on a work you have little knowledge of. I do not assume I understand science to the degree that TE's or AE's, but I know scripture, because it is the foundation. I would say that would lead me to be in a slightly more advantageous position for understanding his ways. It astounds me that you would prefer those that do not follow it's teachings to be on equal par in its exegesis as those that do. Your claim of what God might have done shouldn't come from some mystical feeling about which there is no basis for comparison. Instead it should come from careful consideration of the text left gleen of his ways. If God wants anything it is for us to know him. We wont find him in the fossil record. I argue it will be in the law, the prophets, and in Jesus teachings, and the word wich he gave us.

The problem here is that you and certain others did not understand my challenges posed on pages 1 and 2. Now, when you can go back and understand them then we will continue our discussion.

Ignorance is blissful; it allows you to glide through threads with ease while evading the questions that are too difficult to answer and the claims put forth that go beyond your current knowledge. Just sliiiiiiide on through, stating and restating that your interpretations are correct, and if science says they are wrong, then the scientists must be deceived--because you can't be wrong! What you believe is what God also believes, so you are on his side!

Though none go wiiiiiiith you, still you will foooooollow.......

This is your third evasion.

Your credibility is shot. Just answer a question without another answer.

Humility, sahib! I, sir, am obviously not the one trumpeting for all those within earshot precisely how my "careful" reading of the Bible inexorably entails a young-earth worldview. Neither am I implicitly impugning the interpretive skills of non-YErs thereby.
The Juxtaposition of the to dissonant ideas demonstrate a certain lack of forethought. Either way, it was a nice try.

Once your hindsight catches up to your own forethought, you might realize that the hole you're digging is being filled with arrogance.
