I set out to be friends with people 4 years ago ... I go to meetups, dances etc. I've meet so many people by just introducing myself or saying hi.
People area amazing and are looking for friends. By me being friendly, I've made so many friends I've not been able to keep up with all of them.
Some of the ladies have turned into GFs. Others have wanted to, but I don't have time to be a BF to them.

Thank you for being the first responder to this thread. I hope that others will join in. It's been on my heart that people have a safe venue in which to engage in "pure,lovely and excellent"conversation rather than using the forum as a dating site.I agree that building strong friendships in the Body of Christ is so important.I would like to add myself to your list of friends today. Easier said than done in my case. I'm far too shy to simply introduce myself to other people. For me, friendships have to slowly develop over a number of years, which is why I have so few friends in my life. I'm simply too hard to get to know.

Friendships should be developed over time. You are certainly right about that. They are an investment in our hearts and very precious. Sometimes I also feel too difficult to get to know. I don't consider myself to have a lot of friends but God has blessed me w/quality in my friendships. You have another friend if you want one. Do you need prayer today?

I was in the emergency room this morning.(I thought I had a stroke!) All tests turned out negative. Praise God! The whole time I lie there, not even able to read my Bible,God sent me a bunch of praise and worship songs to listen to over and over in my head. What a blessing!

I tried to listen to some old time hymns on cassette today as a church member donated them to our library but..I just cant get into them.
Does anyone else feel the same about hymns? Its not the hymns so much as the organ music I find it much easier if theres not too much accompaniement or if its just piano, guitar or flutes and harps.

Organs just remind me of wedding marches or funerals. I dont go to any churches that still play organs. But i suppose in the olden days they had them.

love the old hymns-like you,prefer the quite instruments to the organ,etc.-I get easily overwhelmed w/too much loud noise.

Ya, the traditional hymns played the traditional way doesn't usually do anything for me and hasn't since I was in my 20s.
But I do find the words mean a lot to me as they were some the songs I was singing in my teens when Jesus became real to me.

I love all kinds of Christian music. However, I don't like when someone with a heavy metal band yells out "Jesus loves you"(which always gives me heart palpitations and parts my hair!) I know He loves me guys and I appreciate you telling me. Could you just do it not so loudly? It also sounds sometimes like they are really angry. What's up w/ that?

Yea its a bit discorncerting. I know he loves me. But you dont need to be angry about it.

Although shout to the Lord is a lovely song. The original version actually the singer wasnt shouting.

I love the song "Shout to the Lord". What I don't like is when lyrics are difficult to understand. You sometimes get this w/ some of the hard rock style Christian songs.

Its because the instruments are louder than the words yea. I mean take away the drums and growling guitar music and most rock songs are just empty chants. No melody or tune just repetition.

I'm trying to sort though songs to teach children in school and I'm disappointed with the modern ones that are just so difficult to sing much less teach.

How old are the children? Have you ever heard of "Wee Sing"? They have been around for a while. In fact my pastor, who is now 35, performed on the "cassettes" as a child. He has an awesome voice !

no...well the children will be 6-11 years. I don't know if there's A LOT of difference in that age group. But simpler is best and the more memorable the better.

The annoying thing is, because its in secular schools some atheist parent didn't want any children singing worship songs ie. any that mention you believe in Jesus. So now we have to be real careful, but the rock songs are just horrible IMHO. The children get all jumpy and excited when hearing growling guitars but they don't listen to the words.
