• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well, this should be interesting. I'll wait and see what happens, but I'm not so sure I'm keen on the idea that all the various rooms are now open. I think having sections closed off was actually a good thing and kept the place from turning into a free for all. At least you know you had a place to go to feel 'safe'.

We'll see what happens. If it gets too crazy, well, I'll be looking for another christian site to join. I hope I don't have to though, because I like you guys and would miss the fellowship terribly.

Yep and anyone can join and vote on the rules. So if more Mormons or Wiccans join this forum then it's Semper Deformada.
Very true. I suspect that all of the denominational rooms will become more like the Baptist room where all that actually takes place is argument for the sake of argument. I suppose that if your intent is to hone your debating skills and win arguments it will turn out to be fun. For me it has become pointless. I also suspect that rather than uniting folks it will turn out to tear them apart. Welcome General Theology all over the site. ^_^

Boy, is that the truth or what?!! GT burned me out FAST. One of the things I love about SR is the thoughtful, civil discourse.

I remember when I first joined CF and the reformed had just recently been granted SR, their very own room and how thrilled everyone was to join with like minds to discuss doctrines and exchange thoughts and information! That was the real joy of SR, being united with those who sought the same whole truths of scripture and had no preoccuation with the shallow, trivial nature of much of today 'religious' world! Do we now consider this new era to constitute a great loss to us here?

Unfortunately, I don't think we can come to any other conclusion.

Brethren....don't forget about Puritan Board :)
I went there but do not conform to the rules to register. While there are many things in the confessions that I do agree with I disagree with some things in them and will not bind myself by them. I will, therefore, only be a lurker there. I have no problem with their rules but I just don't meet their standards. May God bless you and all His people with His bountiful mercy and grace in Christ. May He open the windows of Heaven and fill each with the knowledge of Him who is life eternal.

I would say that you just write down what you believe and let the mods decide. They are pretty sensible I mean, they let JM on it :).

I may have been too hasty, from additional statements made by Erwin it seems as if we will be able to set our own forum rules and be in effect self-moderating.

I think we should just wait and see at the moment.

Unless you are out voted. and anyone can join the forum. So better get yer numbers up or a congregational forum raider might pull of a hostile takeover.

If I believe I am above the rules, and that I can break them any time that I want, can I? After all who are you to judge?

That is nothing but post modernism, and it is an undermining of absolute truth.

please if anyone has any questions then post them here or PM me ok? and I am sure Erwin has not left his theology at the door he is just looking at a new model for running this place not a new morality, trust him and gave faith that this is still God's forum:wave:, I'm here if anyone needs anything:wave::hug:

Yes Erwin HAS left his theology at the door dear heart. He is going directly against Scripture. This is not to be trusted and no "good" will come of it in the long run. He has removed the lines. What illusion we had of trust or safety when talking to "fellow Christians" is gone. Our mouths have been taped, our hands tied, and the wolves given the keys.

Christian Forums has just become World Forums. I'm sorry but those are the facts.

On the bright side this is a microcosm of Christian life across the world right now. Persecution oddly seems to be good for us and I'm taking a wild guess that there is going to be a bit of that here.

**Edit** Oh...and if you think the Reformed folk are unpopular now? Just wait. :)

I know...I'm so cheery. :D

Add to the "World Forums" - "Uniting all self-proclaimed Christians as one body via majority vote"

Couldn't agree more with your post, with the exception that Erwin's theology is now self-evident - 'leaving it at the door' is just a symptom. ;)

Sorry, AV. They've already said in the puritanboards registration area not to even try.

Yes, I'd be interested to know if there's a procedure for preventing forum membership from doing this.
P_G, AngelAmidala and Newman started a new forum. They added a Historic and Traditional Protestant Forum at my request.
Jtbdad is moderator.
What's the regulative requirement for the forum? I point out the registration form doesn't show any requirement for signing up to a council, a conservative viewpoint, or what. I'm interested.

The registration form does not but they are posted. Athanasian Creed and rules are there.
