Next Thursday is the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist. In the 1662 prayer-book, it is identified as a "Red-Letter Day", and hence is appointed to be observed. In the 1979 book, it is identified as one of the "Holy Days ... regularly observed throughout the year."

Is anyone having services on Thursday to celebrate Saint John's Day? Is anyone, who like me is in a liturgically-impaired diocese, doing anything as a stop-gap celebration in the absence of a church service?

Saint John The Baptist is Patron Saint of my church, so there will definitely be a special service, and the Bishop of Norwich is actually coming to deliver the sermon. Coincidently (can never spell that word), that day is also the silver jubilee of our Priests ordination which will make the day even more special.
