  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Planet Narnia

Many of you C. S. Lewis lovers outside the UK might not yet be aware of a new book recently published which seems to have solved the mystery behind what appears to be silly randomness in the Chronicles of Narnia. An M. Div. student at Cambridge happened upon what some think is now the obvious pattern and basis for Lewis’s seven tales that his many peers and critics made light of as children’s folly. Even J. R. R. Tolkien called his efforts a mish-mash. Those of you who’ve seen “Shadowlands” know what I’m referring to.

BBC recently aired a documentary on Michael Ward’s path to discovery behind Lewis’s perceived inspiration for the Narnia works and it’s incredibly interesting. I would provide a link to the BBC player, but they’ve already pulled the video off the site, which may or may not matter, since I never was able to access it from the US. It does seem that a DVD of the documentary will soon be available (link below), but if you can get a copy of Dr. Ward’s book, that would likely do. Surely, the documentary will be on US and Canadian TV soon enough.

If anyone here has already read Planet Narnia, let us know what you think. I believe what Dr. Ward offers makes sense.
