something someone sent me today i thought i would share!

THE NAIL

As the story goes, they built a new church building and people came
from far and wide to see it. They admired its beauty! Up on the roof,
a little nail heard the people praising everything about the lovely
structure-except the nail! No one even knew he was there, and he
became angry and jealous.

"If I am that insignificant, nobody will miss me if I
quit!" So the nail then released its hold, slid down the roof,
and fell in the mud.

That night it rained and rained. Soon, the shingle that had no nail
blew away, and the roof began to leak. The water streaked the walls
and the beautiful murals. The plaster began to fall, the carpet was
stained, and the pulpit Bible was ruined by water. All this because a
little nail decided to quit!

But what of the nail? While holding the shingle, it was obscure but
it was also useful. Buried in the mud it was just as obscure, but now
it was useless and would soon by eaten up by rust!

The moral of the story-EVERY MEMBER IS IMPORTANT TO THE CHURCH! You
may, like the nail, feel obscure at times, but just like the nail,
your absence is felt. When you are not present for worship, in some
way the body of Christ hurts. We are ALL a part of the Lord's
ministry.

1 Corinthians 12:26-27

Greetings, a lovely story and a good moral.
May I ask? what happened to all the nails that bent, twisted or even snapped during the construct, were they thrown away as being useless or kept save until they can be mended.
The moral:- how does the church treat those disabled saints? can they find a place IN your church?

Wow, thats a good point, but light keeper brings up another good one... all to often we tend to "eat our injured" as christians, like when someone falls and sins we dont show compasion and like the nails that are bent or broken we dont think they have any use anymore so we forget about them and throw them out, but they can be fixed by the grace of God and we should really try to accept and forgive, and also try to help. Perhaps a little gruisome addition is that the nail that quit and fell out and became rusty gets stepped on by someone and it hurts them and leaves them with tetnis if it was the olden days. When people quit it gives a bad impression and it can hurt those around you. well thats enough symbolism for right now.

:) God bless

Greetings God follower, thank you for your post.
Here is another question for my fellow forum readers.
Is your church open to ALL Christians?
I am talking about the disabled, the visual impaired person, the deaf, the hard of hearing and the cruncher the wheelchair user!!!!
All may be "visited" and "minister to" out side "in the community" WHY? is your church closed!
