In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. The mystery was not revealed to the prophets and cannot be found in the Old Testament. It was a secret "hid in God" (Ephesians 3:9) until it was revealed unto the apostle Paul, as he himself states "by revelation he made known unto me the mystery" (Ephesians 3:3). Paul goes on to explain the mystery in verse 6 saying "That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:". It has to be noted that the mystery cannot refer to the blessing of Gentiles in connection with Israel because this is perfectly clear from the fact that that was never a secret. That was known Genesis 12:3 when Jehovah states “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” And this well-known fact is constantly referred to in the Old Testament for example we read in Genesis 22:18 “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”

So what is the secret? Paul explains clearly saying that the mystery is that we Gentiles who were at one time “aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world” (Eph 2:12) have now through the blood of Jesus Christ have been reconciled to God with the Jew in “one body by the cross” (Eph 2:16). Jesus has “broken down the middle wall of partition between us” (Eph 2:14), between Jew and Gentile, and through the baptism by the Holy Ghost we are placed into the “one new man” (Eph 2:15) and thereby reconciled us to God. We read in 1 Corinthians 12: 13 that “ by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”

We read in 1 Colossians 1:26, 27 “Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”. When we read “Christ in you” I do not believe that this is referring simply to the indwelling of the Holy Ghost but rather Christ dwelling in you the Gentiles.

That God has blessed both Gentile and Jew through the cross via the creation of “one new man” in which both are equal, where earthly distinction is lost. That is the glorious mystery “hid in God” but revealed through Paul. Thanks be to a graceful God. AMEN

The MYSTERY is the entire BODY of truth contained in Pauls epistles. It contains 14 separate doctrines NOT FOUND ANYWHERE else in the Bible, as they were delivered TO Paul FOR we the Body of Christ, and nowhere else in the Bible is the Body of Christ even in existance! It is PART of the mystery truth given ONLY to Paul.

Dont ask me to list the doctrines for you. I have material I will send FREE if you would like to study this out further for yourself FROM THE SCRIPTURES. Just PM me and I will mail you this information that shows you WHAT the MYSTERY consists of , to whom it was given, its many names, and the warning for not listening to it.

The Mystery is more than just ONE truth. AV 1611 is correct in citing this ONE segment of the MYSTERY...but there are thirteen other doctrines not found anywhere but in Pauls epistles. If anyone wants a booklet that tells what the Mystery IS, where it is found, to whom it was given, and what it consists of, all laid out for you in scripture, PM me and I will send you this excellent study tool, FREE>

There are many mysteries mentioned in the Bible. C.I. Schofield lists eleven of them as follows:
1. The mystery of the kingdom of heaven, Matthew 13:3-50.
2. The mystery of the partial blindness of Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles be brought in, Romans 11:25.
3. The mystery of the translation, 1 Corinthians 15:51,52; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17.
4. The mystery of the New Testament Church as one Body composed of Jew and Gentile, Ephesians 3:1-11; Romans 16:25; Ephesians 6:19; Colossians 4:3.
5. The mystery of the Church as the Bride of Christ, Ephesians 5:28-32.
6. The mystery of the in-living Christ, Galatians 2:20; Colossians 1:26,27.
7. The mystery of the Deity of Christ, Colossians 2:2,9; 1 Corinthians 2:7.
8. The mystery of godliness, 1 Timothy 3:16. (why miss 3:9, "the faith" ?)
9. The mystery of iniquity, 2 Thessalonians 2:7; Matthew 13:33.
10. The mystery of the seven stars, Revelation 1:20.
11. The mystery of Babylon, Revelation 17:5,7.

Some of these mysteries are closely connected; for example: The mystery of the Church is connected to that of the in-living Christ and the mystery of translation, by virtue of the fact that one cannot become a member of the Church/Body of Christ/ Bride of Christ, or, be translated, without Christ living within, in the Person of the Holy Spirit. See Romans 8:8-11.

However many mysteries there are, those dealing with the Body of Christ/Church are to be understood by Believers through the ministry of both the Apostles and Prophets, and Paul; and that both Paul and the Apostles received the truth of these mysteries through revelation. See Ephesians 3:3-5.

There is good reason to believe that Paul, in Ephesians 3, was referring to what he had written in Ephesians 2, about both Jews and Gentiles making up the Church/
Body of Christ by virtue of the fact that individuals from each ethnic group had been changed from being Jews or Gentiles into one new race (2:15), which constitutes that Body/Church. Ephesians 2:16 and 3:6.

It was no mystery that God, through Christ, was going to bring the Gentiles into His fold. Compare Romans 15:9 with Psalm 18:49 and Isaiah 42:6,7 and Romans 15:10, with Deuteronomy 32:43; and Romans 15:11 with Psalm 117:1.

Also, compare Romans 15:12 with Isaiah 11:1,10. And, the ministry to Gentiles was to be connected to His ministry to Israel, Romans 15:8,9.

The mystery was that both Jew and Gentile were to be reconciled unto God in One Body by means of Jesus Christ coming into believers (after having shed His blood, been buried, and having risen on the third day). And that the Church was to be the Bride/Body of Christ.
See: Romans 5:6-10; Ephesians 3:3-12 and 5:24-32; along with Colossians 1:24-27.

Far from Paul claiming to have exclusive knowledge of the mysteries, listen to what he says in Ephesians 3:3-6....... "how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel."
i.e. Paul shared this revelation with "...His holy apostles and prophets..." by means of the Spirit.

It is a matter of real concern that the church spends so much time and effort on non-essential doctrinal issues. We should not get side-tracked from what Paul, in Ephesians 4:1 and 1Corinthians 1:9, refers to as our "calling" or in the KJV "vocation."

Let’s take the space to look at Ephesians 4:1-16.... "I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore He says: ‘When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men’ (Now this, ‘He ascended’---what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head– Christ– from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love." (NKJV)

The reason love is so important, is that we all are less than perfect in our under-standing. As 1 Corinthians 8:1,2 puts it: "Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know."

Brooks Alexander of Spiritual Counterfeits Project put it this way: "In view of the gap between God’s omniscience and human understanding, the difference between genius and stupidity is trivial."

Consistent, habitual, obedience to God.... stems from, and indicates the presence of, real love! And godly love is not an emotion. Indeed godly love is obedience to God’s directions, or orders. See 1 John the fifth chapter, especially verse 3. In that verse, John is not speaking of the Ten Commandments.... the word "commandments" in that verse is the Greek entole’, which means: an injunction, or prescription.

Both obedience (Romans 6:17), and love (Romans 5:5), come from the heart and mind, and are therefore mental attitudes,. We are commanded to love (1John 3:23); the emotions cannot be commanded.

We need to learn to love one another in every area of our living, so that by "...speaking the truth in love [we may] grow up in all things into Him who is the head– Christ– from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love." (Ephesians 4:15,16).

AMEN

very well stated. it seems to me scripture is clear on this, and as simple to get as you just showed.

Nope...we arent ADDED to Israel at all! The scripture says that of TWAIN he made ONE NEW MAN...this is speaking of the Body of Christ, which was part of the MYSTERY information HID IN GOD, and KEPT SECRET.
how is Peter saying we are born again not the same as becoming a new man. it was NOT hid in God it was hid in the scripture which the Prophets fortold and was written down. they were speaking to US not to the jews they spoke to. That christ would come for our salvation and the gentiles would become one with the jews,or heirs TOGETHER in God.
