Note that the movie version of Shogun, just won a ton of awards.

This is a bit weird, as the original book Shogun is about an English (blond-haired and blue-eyed) navigator who took a European ship to Japan, in the 1500's.

Note that the book version in Barnes and Noble, has the navigator on the front cover, as brown-eyed and black-haired...I guess that sells better to Americans who want "diversity".

AND, essentially Shogun is a Japanese version of "The Handmaid's Tale", but THAT sort of gets lost on younger modern Americans who officially despise abusive male behavior in American men, but seem to miss that even worse behavior was codified into the bushido Japanese code, with regard to women.

I guess that the systematic abuse of women, is fine when it happens in a non-European culture. But, this is not the Christian way.

Why is this in the Christian philosophy section? Also, I do not follow Hollywood that much. Hollywood does what Hollywood wants to do. The older Hollywood movies are much better compared to the new ones, and the number of awards mean almost nothing nowadays.

In almost no point in the 2020s did any mainstream movie promote Christianity. Sometimes, we have to set the ethics of the movie aside, and just enjoy the show. If the movie sucks, just walk out.

What you're suggesting is untrue. The Handmaid's Tale is an American dystopian television series that debuted in 2017 and it's still on. They have numerous accolades.

* The first season won eight Primetime Emmy Awards from 13 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.

* It is the first show produced by Hulu to win a major award and the first series on a streaming service to win an Emmy for Outstanding Series.

* It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series -- Drama.

* Elisabeth Moss was also awarded the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama Series.

In light of their success it isn't surprising a similar storyline might experience the same. They've tested the concept and proven the audience likes it. I watched the series and read the books in the past. It was well done. They deserved the awards and if Shogun is equally good it should be recognized.
