I actually am in the middle of reading it right now as well.

Yes I volunteer at the arminian church and they really need me there. But I don't feel like I'm getting fed there.

With the Reformed resurgence we are finding this more and more, where Reformed folks are sojourning in Arminian churches, it's going to happen. What I was unprepared for was the counter resurgence of militant Arminianism, it's almost rabid. You can't attack a manmade religion for long before they organize and lead counter strikes I guess....

I've been on the receiving end of the anger, and I understand firsthand that God's sovereignty in election makes "Adam" angry. I didn't know what humility was until I came to understand the Doctrines of Grace.

My question is why would they? I understand that in many areas there are no churches who hold to the Doctrines of Grace but I travel a fair distance to hear the truth of the Gospel. I always have had to. Is the truth of God so unimportant that we can attend a false church out of convenience? Is being fed by the Gospel of Christ so common that we can do without it? Are we so uncommitted to the truth of God that we can swallow pablum and be satisfied? Can a believer be satisfied in the wilderness?

If there is no one else in your area with whom you can worship the true and living God should you move to where there is or perhaps see if the Lord would start a work where you are?

I know that many disagree with me but I for one cannot worship in a congregation that has no clue as to who is the true and living God. How much compromise does it take to do so?

I can only speak for myself...God has used my witness to the truth in many ways. Things I've said and done 10 years ago are blossoming and providing new Christians with a warn path to trend. I was not up to the work of reforming the local congregation but others have learned from me and are now making inroads.

That all stated...I attended a Presby church most often now...lol God be praised!

There is some crazy stuff gong on in the name of Christ. Finding my conservative PCA church was like finding water in the desert after years of church-hopping various non-denoms.

Exactly! There's lots of deception and crooked so called "pastors" out there who do church to make money.

I recently was visiting a "Half-Priced Books" and found a wonderful binding of the McNeill/Battles edition, one that has really nice paper that doesn't feel like it came from a kindergarten class's stack of construction paper. And, here is the kicker: It was brand new and was cheaper than buying it straight from Amazon.

Also, I have recently become increasingly distrustful of my own reason. When you start realizing just how deceitful the heart is and how ignorant we are, you really start realizing how much in God's good graces you are and it makes you realize that if you are wrong on your faith, you are liable to punishment for one's sin.

Luke 18 says:

Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things which are written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished. For He will be handed over to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and mistreated and spit upon, 33 and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him; and the third day He will rise again.” But the disciples understood none of these things, and the meaning of this statement was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things that were said.

Now that is really scary. We cannot trust out own minds to understand the simplest of statements. So, it merely ups the ante. It shows how gracious God has been to us in opening our eyes...or how blind we are if God forbid we are not understanding God at His word as we ought.

Respectfully i must slightly disagree.

For God hath not giuen to vs the Spirite of feare, but of power, and of loue, and of a sound minde.

Some use the term "Maturity" in exchange for the phrase "a sound minde".

We can make decisions and we do know that God will be sovereign over the results. We do make decisions in this world. We make Mathematical models, and engineer great works of man. While all are flawed, God has left us with methods of prediction of results that are consistent.

Beyond those who are scammers, there are those who are ignorant of God's ways, yet they put themselves forward as teachers, misleading the flock.
