That's not the way I remember it (time, space and movement perceptions were off, judgment was way off) - where is this evidence please?

Then there is also the degree of intoxication. I wouldn't want to drive stoned on either drug.

Saving money is only one aspect of doing taxes. If I found that my accountant was doing my returns whiled stoned, I'd have them rechecked, especially if he was getting very creative.

see; its true that cannabis can impair driving/motor skills. but not nearly as much as alcohol does.

True. One consideration/thought: driving when sleep deprived can be more dangerous than driving under the influence of cannabis while NOT being sleep deprived. Many people suffering from insomnia could benefit from cannabis intake to promote sleep...which would make them better drivers the next morning since they wouldn't be their normal sleep-deprived selves. One other thing to consider...most people that want to use cannabis already do. I'm sure some would begin using cannabis if it were legalized...but I'm willing to bet that the number of additional users would be less than half of the amount of existing users. There are a large number of theraputic uses of marijuana....

True enough. If people knew they were going to be tested if they had an accident, they might drive better while straight (because the residue stays in the system for so long).

I'm coming back to this thread... quite interesting. I'd actually spoken to my father about this very topic last weekend. Very eye-opening indeed. We are both very similar in our views on the legalization of marijuana... which surprised me a little bit.
