The moon shot wasted billions of dollars with way too many contractors and subcontractors. We will be able to save billions because we will only have one centralized supplier who has the ability to pull this off.

This is not going to cost 4% of GNP or whatever it was NASA was spending for Apollo. The advent of Space X with a viable commercial base for space operations is already in place. This is good marketing for them but for other companies, if Mars succeeds then the whole solar system becomes a resource of minerals, green hydrogen etc Not to mention the Valleris Marianus and the rings of Jupiter have great tourist potential

Actually the computers needed to be small enough to fit on the Service Module, Lunar Module, and Command Module. I'm pretty sure that Elon will be able to find computers small enough to get the job done.
