Perhaps that's why the Constitution was not written with the intent of everyone being allowed to vote for either the President or for their Senators. And perhaps that will ultimately bring about our downfall

You do realize that putting limits on voting could potentially lead to a permanent Democratic majority, right? Be careful what you wish for.

Splain it then for us ignoramus's.

How can the middle 20% be shrinking (middle quintile.) Definitionally it is the middle 20% in the distribution curve.
It was not a slam. I was simple asking a question.

The middle 20% would be earning less money. I can only explain how this shift appears if you provide what we are actually counting.

I can't post right now, but will look at your previous post in a bit.

I was really only asking to know at what level to address it. I shouldn't have asked. I apologize.

Or it could lead to a permanent Republican majority, or not.

Then what did you mean by "DINKS?" Or did you mean "dinks" the racial slur?
Oh how my liberal friends always have race on their minds. DINK is an acronym that stands for Dual Income NO Kids families.

Hmm. You think you would be happy for the Singaporean laborer who now has an option that goes beyond the scratching of his meager existence from the earth. Capitalism, unlike the altruism of the left, does not end at the US boarder. Like water, it seeks the path of least resistance. Put up bariers to capitalism here and it--along with the jobs and prosperity that accompany it--will flow elsewhere.

So much for patriotism.

I pledge allegiance, to the buck..

^_^

Just pictured a guy putting his right hand over his heart via the pledge of allegiance and the American flag is replaced by a giant model of a $100 bill in cloth up in the sky.

Middle income by definition is the middle quintile of all incomes in the US.

How can a statistical value be shrinking?

The middle fifth will always be the middle fifth.

No it isn't, you're confusing your descriptive statistics. (and why on earth would middle income be the third quintile not the second tercile?)

Middle income is defined as income between inflation-adjusted set points which delineate certain standard of living levels. "Middle income" is any income between the "lower income" and "upper income" cut off points.

The number of people falling into the "middle income" range is decreasing and those people are primarily going into the "lower income" range. Meaning that they are moving from a "middle income" standard of living to a "lower income" standard of living.

Wealth leaving the US is an effect. If you could properly identify the cause, you would put your finger on those who are deficient in the area of patriotism. Capitalism is freedom. If capital and capitalists are fleeing, that should tell you something.

Yes, they are moving towards greedier pastures, where the labor is cheaper and the profits are greater.

"I pledge allegiance to the buck" is apropos when it comes capitalist thinking. Who needs a stable society when profits rule? Silly greedy people.

Horsefeathers! Weath is not leaving the U.S. (unless you count the wealth of working and middle class folks buying products made in China). Our GDP is still the largest in the world and will continue to be so for quite some time. What's leaving are jobs because business owners would rather pay someone in Malaysia $15 a day to sew shirts than pay someone $15 an hour for the same work.

I pledge allegiance to the buck, of the economically united states of NAFTA, and to the outsourcing for which it stands...

Well, when you are able to erase the consumer demand for the best product at the lowest price, you might have success in halting what you find so objectionable. Until then, your beef is with reality, not business.
