Which is why I use it for my "recreational" Bible reading - it gets me out of "teacher mode" where I tend to always be on the lookout for what's the lesson/meaning/context/etc of this passage rather than just read the Text and enjoy it.

I have to say that I have found "The Message" to be a good text. Patterson's paraphrases agree with my interpretation(so I guess that is why I like it ). For serious study of the Bible though I refer to my King James Version.

Thanks! I also find some of the paraphrases fun to read. An example is Eph 4. Unity is clear in those passages.
