I'm a huge Redman fan. I like him even more than Chris Tomlin. Redman is responsible for so many great songs, such as "You're Worthy." He's also great about making resources available to worship leaders. He's got a website called www.heartofworship.com (yes, he wrote the famous song) that gives info on everything from leading worship, to effectively playing your instrument, to song writing, and on and on. I think he gets overlooked sometimes since he isn't American.

I don't know if it's sad or funny that he comes up with these catchy, heartfelt songs, like Undignified and other bands play them and get most of the recognition. I've read his booklette, Heart of Worship, and it's pretty good.

If you liked that, then you should read his book "The Unquenchable Worshipper." It's a very short book, but don't let it's size fool you. It's packed with great thoughts, stories, suggestions, etc.

I know what you mean about his status as a relative unknown. It's like when Redman's friend Tim Hughes wrote "Here I am to Worship" and Chris Tomlin recorded it. Everyone thought it was a Tomlin song and had no idea who Tim Hughes was. Sad and funny.

Well, among my Christian friends in Germany everyone knows Matt Redman and Tim Hughes... and most ppl have never heard of Chris Tomlin...
And they both (the English guys) played Chris Tomlin songs at their summer worship conference and ppl thought they were their songs...
So I guess it might not be too unfair after all... :)

greetings,
hatschie

Yeah that's true hatschie... there is much "to and fro"-ing of music, which is nice... Tim Hughes, Matt Redman and Chris Tomlin sounds like they are good mates too... and they have written together. It probably evens out in the end... but in short I am a fan of all three!

Just some additional Matt Redman and Tim Hughes ressources:

Some articles from the heart of worship website that was closed down were published in a book called "The heart of worship files".

In addition to the books by Matt Redman that were already mentioned my personal favourite is his book "Face down".

For new songs and articles by Tim Hughes you should check out
www dot passionforyourname dot com (and also their archive).

Greetings,
hatschie

Facedown..
that iz a great cd too .

that dizcuzzion kinda reminded me of a zermon i once readed (by Louie Giglio). He waz talking about how recognition doeznt quite matter to those guyz, but the recognition that we all will have in heaven.

(he even talked about a mizzpeling that happened in one of the PAZZION cdz....like...instead of Chriz Tomlin the guy placed CHRIZ TOMIN...and he was like....DUDE! never hearded about CHRIZ? But he'z zo famouz! how can you mizpelled hiz name?)

the thing that really matterz to them iz that when they go to heaven, HE will call them by name. Zo i dont care beeing recognized here on earth for zomething i did or wrote....az long az He knowz who i am. ;)
