An Idea I have been toying with for those who are interested.

"To make you I must first unmake you."

"Why do you persist in trying to move the orbs with your hands Severa?" asked Phaedra as it watched its apprentice try the test again. Severa had to move several huge Orbs that seemed to float in place, around a series of pillars and into several alcoves. She had been straining to move the first orb where it rested next to a pillar, pushing with all her strength. She grimaced at him
"Because I can't control them when I do it the other way!" she hissed at him in agitation.
Phaedra remained passive, if he was upset he didn't show it. He raised an arm and moved his hand to show the wide expanse of nothing ness in which the pillars seemed to stand on.
"The pillars are not there for decoration." He touched the orb she was struggling with and added "Push with your mind, push here." He tapped her forehead. He moved off to one side and continued to watch her. Severa straightend up and starred at the orb, concerntrating. Slowly it moved forwards gaining speed then shot passed the pillars and disappeared into the gaping maw of the void beyond.
"Anger is of no use to you here Severa" The was suddenly reset and the orb had reappeared before her again. She sighed in frustration and began to push fruitlessly with her hands. Phaedra watched her struggle for a while then sighed and folded his hands into his swirling robe, that twitched and moved constantly about him. Severa stopped and scowled at him. She had learned that this was as close as he got to displaying anger. "Your test is unfair, I can't do it" she sulked.

"To make you I must unmake you" he sighed. The pillars, the alcoves and the orbs vanished in a moment. "Your body is gone my apprentice, your old self is dead, do you still think of your existence in this way?"
"Stop calling me that, I am Viallha." She shouted but would not face him.
"Viallha is dead."

In a moment they were stood watching as the Shadow kin struck, the woman's body twisted and fell, then was still. Severa shivered in horror as she saw her own face lifeless before her.
"Why have you brought me here?"
"To show you this, since you will not accept it from me." Replied Phaedra. "This is the body of Viallha, this was your body." he stared at her intensely, watching as she shivered in horror as her former self died before her eyes. "Viallha is dead"

To be continued....
Part two shortly

" You do not understand what you have become and what you are capable of"

The world blured and was changed in an instant. Severa found herself stood on a path way that seemed to made of large slabs of stone that were smooth. She jumped as a horseless carriage of shining red metal went past her. She shivered and looked about at this alien world that Phaedra had brought them too. He appeared to be ignoring the fast moving metal carriages that shot past them with a noisy roar. he was watching her intently. As Severa looked closer she was startled to see people sat in these machines. She squinted up at the tall buildings that appeared to be made of a mirror like substance and the people, so many colours and the sheer number of them. She looked at the strange styling of their clothing and could not place it. Strangely the vast crowd seemed to be ignoring them. She watched as a man in a grey jacket and trousers with a coloured piece of cloth tied at his neck walked toward them then suddenly changed direction and walked around where they were stood. She got the impression he was not even aware he had done this.

"What is this place?" she asked looking again at the strange metal horseless carriages that continued to stream past them at a frightening speed.
"One of the realms we watch."
"why have you brought me here?" she jumped at the sound of a great horn from one of the carriages as it went past.
"To teach you." Before she could protest he had grabbed the front of her robe and lifted her bodily off the pathway. "You do not understand what you ahve become and what you are capable of. It is time for you to learn of your potential." Without warning he hurled her into the centre of the road way that the carriages were pouring down.
She struggled to avoid the oncoming carriages as they bore down her and rolled aside as one shot past but was unable avoid another. She shut her eyes as its metal grate drew nearer.....
THen it passed her. She looked up and saw the carriage had smoehow missed her. She stood up watching amused as the stream of carriages seemed to move around her without bumping into each other as if they accomodated her presence among them. She looked over to where Phaedra stood watching from the path and walked over to him through the rushing traffic.
"I needed you to accept that you are no longer a mortal being, we do not exist on the normal plane of being as ordinary mortals do, though if we choose we can interact with the realms we guard, though we may not directly interfere. These people...." He gestured to the throng surging around them "they cannot see us unless we choose it." As if to demonstrate a point he stared hard at a man wearing a short shirt and a colourful pair of shorts. The man stopped and looked back at Phaedra.
"Did I do something wrong officer?" he asked
"Sorry thought you were someone else." replied Phaedra.
Severa was suddenly aware that neither of them was speaking in a language she knew but she could understand every word. Phaedra smiled and looked at her. "You see, you begin to understand." The man shook his head confused and moved on. Phaedra touched her forehead
"The mind of a mortal has limited potential to aquire knowledge, by what the mortal sees or hears. We are different, we can accept knowledge on a far higher level. I am your teacher but there is much you will not learn from me. Your mind will not let go of its mortal existence but if you let it, great things will you accomplish."

As he said this images and concepts began to form in her head, the principle of the combustion engine, it was not just information that was there, She understood it "Car" she murmured to herself as she looked at the traffic passing by.
Phaedra graced her with another smile and put his hands in his constantly swirling robes. "you see, it is possible."

A moment later they were back before the vast maw of the void, the test, the pillars, the Orbs, the alcoves were all there waiting for her.
"now, try again Severa, open your mind..."
She looked at the floating orbs and the pillars and relaxed, images began to flow through her mind and she smiled. Push with my head not my hands she thought. The orb moved flowing smoothly towards a pillar where it rebounded at the perfect angle and slotted quietly into the alcove. She had done it at last.
