The Mad Hatter
The term "Mad Hatter" is popularly recognized from the character described in Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. He was the partner of the March Hare at the Mad Tea Party. Lewis Carroll did not invent the phrase, although he did create the characters. The phrases "mad as a hatter" and "mad as a March hare" were common at the time (1865) Lewis Carroll wrote Alice. The phrase "mad as a hatter" had been in common use in 1837, almost 30 years earlier. The Hatter and the Hare also reappear in Alice Through the Looking Glass as the King's messengers, Hatta and Haigha.
"In that direction," the Cat said, waving its right paw round, "lives a Hatter: and in that direction," waving the other paw, "lives a March Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad." "But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad." "How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice. "You must be, said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."
Hatters really did go mad. The chemicals used in hat-making included mercurous nitrate, used in curing felt. Prolonged exposure to the mercury vapors caused mercury poisoning. Victims developed severe and uncontrollable muscular tremors and twitching limbs, called "hatter's shakes". Other symptoms included distorted vision and confused speech. In advanced cases, hatters developed hallucinations and other psychotic symptoms.

And what does this Alice in Wonderland character have to do with spiritual matters? You will be surprised! We have learned that all men are crowned with thorns as fast as they are born into this world and given their personal cross. This is part of the passion God gave to all His human offspring as illustrated in the crucifixion of Jesus. We have also learned that briars and thorns are references for evil spirits. These thorn-tares, puncture the mind with bad advice; they project wicked pictures and sinful instructions as thought scenarios; and they give men wild, tormenting dreams as nightmares. They also project lustful porn scenes in the mind at the sight of an attractive person. They stimulate the sex-nerves and give men wet-dreams in attempts to snare men with Babylons wine of fornication, Revelation 17:1-6. Truly we reside in hell! It is these head-demons that crown each human head as a crown of thorns. By this means they reign over and control men in all nations, languages, tongues and people, Revelation 13:4-6. I have seen some European crowns with a velvet or felt-like cloth material lining giving it the appearance of a bejeweled hat.
Devils are VERY MAD at God for throwing them out of Heaven and damning their entire family for total annihilation and termination by fire. They are expert at getting revenge. They cannot touch God. But the children of God are born into flesh and blood and they are TARGETS for devils and outlets for their revenge.
Revelation 12:12. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Psalm 69:7. Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face. 8. I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children. 9. For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
Romans 8:16. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19. So the crown of thorns is a VERY MAD HAT!

Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers (demonic tares), children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. 5. Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. 6. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
Psalm 14:2. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. 3. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 4. Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord.
And devils are very pleased with their success against human beings! They have bragged about it before God!
