After reading some of the first posts in this thread I have to say that most of you do not understand what the LCMS is now and what it was to begin with. You might consider reading some of our Synod fathers like Walther and Pieper as well as Moving Frontiers. Books like Zion on the Mississippi by William Foster chronicle the voyage of the Saxons from Dresden to New Orleans and then by Riverboat up to St. Louis.

I would rather point you in the direction of reading these materials than to make carte blanche statements about things you seem to be ignorant about at this time.
