  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!...though it is a day late. I'm sorry, I'm afraid I've been sucked into the black hole of video games for the last couple of days and have done absolutely nothing. Drat. I was hoping to get a lot done on my book...oh well, there is tomorrow...and some of the next day at least.

How was everyone else's Thanksgiving?
Everything went great-I shot pool at my relatives' mostly Thursday.

I never said that. And I'm gonna smack her next time I see her for making it up and then telling you. Funny thing is this isn't the first time she's told someone that I've said something I haven't. She'd better start watching her back. Cause I have a feeling I'm not the only person she's done this to either.

Another thing. Don't you think if I had something to tell you I would tell you on here and not use her as a messenger?
Yes, but when she told me that it sounded just like something you'd say. That's odd that she'd tell people things and say you'd said them when you didn't. It's one of those times I'm glad to be the baby of the family.

Okay...wow, interesting stuff happens when I'm gone for a couple of days....not good, though.

SNOW DAY!!

Eirene, we know that what we have going is basically private conversation, but there is no way to have private threads and PM's don't work because there's about six people that do or used to visit this thread regularly. It's complicated....

I'm surprised by the foresight the school showed this time. In the past they wouldn't cancel school until all of the students were there and the roads became treacherous (especially for 'buses). This time, however, even though the weather wasn't bad early this morning, they still cancelled school.

Yeah. Did you hear about the problems that one local school had? The superintendent was from Colorado, so he didn't call school off until about 11:30, when the ice and sleet was piling up on the roads. I'm most certainly glad we aren't in that district.

Yeah, I believe it. Wednesday night, my mom just said, "Don't even set your alarm; we'll wake you up if we need you." Like I said at church Wednesday night: "Tornados in the evening, freezing rain in the morning, sleet and snow in the afternoon; I don't think we're having school."

Wow. We got a lot of snow here. Enough that they called classes for today here too. And the roads and sidewalks haven't even been touched. They've even shut down a couple of our dining halls. And I'm enjoying every minute of not going anywhere today... Hmmm... What to do?

About 3 inches here, but most of it was sleet; the real snow didn't start until about the time I went to bed last night. They also graded our gravel road, so my dad and I had to go and clean off our front drive becaue it had a pile of snow and slush a foot tall in front of it. It actually wasn't so bad.
