I just read the lost symbol by Dan Brown and thought it to be very entertaining even though there are some things he talks about I don't agree with

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I honestly didn't care for it at all.
His writing style is incredibly lazy and formulaic, he lets the plot dominate the novel at the expence of his own imaginaton and focuses more on pushing a plot that sounds like it was put together by a youtube conspiracy theorist on their 30th redbull down peoples throats.
I'm sure mr Brown has a good novel in him somewhere, but until he stops writing diatribes, its never going to come out.

i like books written by Dan brown, i still have not had a time to read the lost symbol but i know that i will like it. his books are very intriguing. he's brilliant!
on the other hand, as much as i like reading fiction i also like to read inspirational books.

It was better than Deception Point and Digital Fortress, but not as good as The DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons.
I loves me some good nutty conspiracy theory. Saw a documentary about The Lost Symbol a few weeks ago. One Mason they were interviewing said something like, "Yes, but before the Masons manage to organize world domination, first we'll have to organize the World Domination Fish Fry." Hee!

The Davinci Code and Angels and Demons were pretty good reads, so I'm looking forward to getting around to this one...eventually.

His books have similarly predictable characters and plots but he has this style that I like when he leaves us with cliffhangers one chapter after another that makes you wanna go finish the whole thing.

Imo, he's more storyteller than writer. His books are entertaining enough...they are great for vacations when you are next to a pool, keeping one eye on the kids.
