Any place where energy exists, light can and will exist. The only way it would be impossible for light to exist in hell is if energy is non-existant in hell. If energy does not exist in hell, then hell has a temperature of absolute zero. This would contradict any Biblical statement claiming that hell is a place that is hot or contains fire. You might want to think about this the next time you use the phrase "when hell freezes over", because by your definition, it is already at absolute zero.

Unless of course it doesn't exist in this universe, as per my orignial claim.

All your doing is moving the same problem your encountering here to a different universe of some kind.

Your trying to over think this, and match it to your logic. God can do anything he wants, He controls energy and He can do what he please with it. If you can believe that, then the point or existence of another dimension is pointless.

You are claiming divine intervention will exist in hell. But you previously stated that hell is complete separation from God. This is a contradiction.

Hell was made by God right?

Hell was divinely made then. Hell can hold properties that are divine then. God can completely change the laws of Physics to fit the needs of Hell if He wanted.

If Hell is complete separation from God, this would imply that God does not perpetually interveve in hell. Rather, he sets the physical laws the way he wants them to begin with, and lets them run their course. Those physical laws will have to be different from the ones we have in this universe, hence my conclusion that God has set aside another dimension to be used as hell.

That's what I was arguing. And I think that in doing so, God would not "box out" a section of this universe to use as hell, but just create another universe for it (which is no extra work for him).

So now we are left with two choices:

God made a new universe for Hell to exist in.

OR

God could have personally sectioned off a place in this universe with special properties for Hell to exist in.

Either way, it is impossible to determined what God will do or did. So, Hell being in a different dimension is not a fact, nor is it a fact it is part of this already existing universe. Both of us are at a stale mate.

I have one more argument. I believe it is prophesized in Revelation that God will destroy the entire universe and everything in it and replace it with a new one (Heaven). But Hell lasts forever, so wouldn't that mean it doesn't exist here?

Some people also believe that the current hell is a temporary one, which the ancient manuscripts refer to as "Hades" (all the occurences of the word "hades" have been translated into "hell" in our current version of the Bible), but that on the day of judgement, all the unvelievers will be raised from the dead, judged, and then sent to the eternal hell, a different place. The permanent one is the one described in Revelation, and the "hell" that Jesus refers to in the Gospels is just the temporary one.

Well, it is a point to consider, but then we move into a translation stale mate.

The passage in Rev. (I believe 21:1) says nothing about the "universe" being destoryed, just what was in it passing away to make way for the new Earth and Heaven in the same realm of space. This of course is an opinion just like yours.

I'm aware of the difference in Hades and Hell. I read the NASB. The only version I know that Hades is translated hell is in the KJV.

I believe it is in another dimension. On the opposite side of a black hole perhaps? But it is somewhere far away from earth and with a one way entrance.

Anyone care to share their views?

Hell would be living back with my foster mom.

I know, I know, I know, that wasn't nice but I could pass this up. Sorry. :p
