fortyfour--i have the m83 album--it's called DeadCities, RedSeas, & LostGhosts. And in fact, i'm listening to it right now. i rather like it, i will say. it has a lotta synth-y stuff on it, if you like that stuff. has a good ethereal quality....i also have cyann & ben; on the same label as m83. more acoustically based, though

fijian--i have the papa m hole of burning alms. someone told me they thought it was good make out music ;). mostly acoustic stuff....definitely worth buying. do you recommend any mogwai albums? i have the one with "ten" in the title, which i rather like, looking to buy some more....

Well, for one they are covers. BAD COVERS. To me they just reek of insincerity, the sincerity which drew me to Oldham's music in the first place.

how bout 'viva last blues ' by will oldham? or which bonnie prince billy album is good, would u say>??????

nadro, i'm interest in this 'krautrock' type music, so i bought a cd by can, and faust was my next choice. Honestly, i havent even heard their music, so i'm taking a risk, so i cant even recommend it, i just hope its good.

m83 is nice, i have indeed heard their music, and I would want to buy this cd but the fact is, its an import and it will cost about 25 dollars for this cd. They definitely have a 'unique' style, so thats what draws me in.

Oh, and if you like Tortoise, check out Mice Parade, especially "Mokoondi".

Is it instrumental as well? Well, instrumental as in no vocals. I guess it's not entirely instrumental, as they have electronics, but...whatever.

Make-out music?? oo errr...missus.....Anyway I think Mogwai's best albums as a single entity are probably the last two, Rock Action and Happy Songs. Their sound has developed though from the Slint-esque Young Team and Come On Die Young (of which Young Team is superior IMO) to mellow lush soundscapes on Happy Songs. If you can get EP+6 it has two of their finest moments on it, Superheroes of BMX and Burn Girl-Prom Queen although I think you can only get EP+2 Stateside which doesn't have Superheroes. Other stand out tracks for me are: Young Team - Like Herod, Tracey, Mogwai Fear Satan; CODY - Punk Rock, Christmas Steps; Rock Action - Sine Wave, 2 Rights make 1 Wrong; Happy Songs - Hunted by a Freak, Moses? I Amn't, Killing All the Flies, Ratts of the Capital, I Know You Are But What Am I?

You can download kosher free tracks at their website -> http://www.mogwai.co.uk/audio.html

cheers,
Andy

BTW, you should definitely get the OTC-Dusk @ the Cubist Castle. I'm a big fan of it. I want their Black Foliage album, so that would be on my list.

Just got it yesterday, Nico. I'm loving it. Very interesting. Beatles fans take note: OTC's Dusk at Cubist Castle is real experimental pop music ;)

I really like Coldplay. Check out their Parachutes album; it's really great stuff, especially "We Never Change" and "High Speed."

Hmm, I've wanted OK Computer for a while now...I have heard from too many people how good it is. The only bad thing is that it is hard to find cheap. Upon your insistance, Nadro, I will purchase it. I'll let ya know what I think.

hey nico,

hmm, ill check that website out, wouldn't mind buying import cd's for cheap.
Yea, i've heard of mbv, i have their loveless cd. Now they have some great songs but theres maybe 1 or 2 songs that are extremely repetitive, maybe #5 and something else. ill have to check which songs they are. I think that cd is def. an acquired taste, and i don't think i've listen to it enough to really enjoy it...any song recommendations or favorites on that cd??????
