  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm a bit stumped by the behavior of people on the left. I mean this thread with utmost understanding and respect. I'm not trying to insult or belittle, but I wonder why issues the democrats have brought up in the past weren't racist, but suddenly they are when Trump brings up the same issues. Suddenly, the left has completely flipped and flopped on issues like immigration, taking stances against Trump that they once held.

The democrats used to be at the forefront of wanting a wall, deporting criminals, and they also used to be against the dreamers.

In this video, we have Chuck Schumer taking a hard line against DACA. We have Hillary Clinton taking a tough stance on immigration, and President Obama saying specifically he can't legally just sign into law immigration reform, that it has to be done by Congress. So, by Obama's own words, DACA shouldn't of even been a thing and Trump did the right thing by not allowing it to continue and instead passing the ball to Congress to create an official bill.

When Obama said it, not racist. When Trump did exactly as Obama commented, he's racist.

When Obama called Libya a "----show", no cries from the media, no rending garments, no calls of racism. When he dropped the "N" word and an "F" bomb, both on live TV, there was no outcry from the left, no calls of racism. The media barely said anything about it.

Back in 1996, when Bill Clinton talked about illegals imposing burdens on our tax system, calling to deport more aliens, crack down on illegal hiring, and barring illegals from receiving benefits, no one called him a racist.

When Hillary talked tough on immigration, no one called her a racist.

So, I just want to know why we suddenly have to think that the left cares for these DACA kids or care for illegal immigrants. They never have in the past and took the same hard line Trump did. But suddenly they all decided to flip their views just to paint Trump as a racist. But if Trump's racist, then so is Bill, Hillary, and Barack.

Us vs them. People on both sides naturally get into an us vs. them state of mind.

Did you know Obamacare was mostly the same as the main Republican health care idea from the 1990s?

Nuetral fact checking: the idea that Obamacare is the Republican health care reform plan from the 90s is mostly correct:
Is the ACA the GOP health care plan from 1993?

But of course us-vs-them mindset (again, that both sides have) makes the ideas now bad, because it's the Democrats doing it, etc.

I'm not endorsing Trump (in fact, we'd be better off with almost any of 80 or 90 senators). It's like each week you learn some new bad thing Trump did, like paying off that prostitue to stay silent in 2016, etc.

So I'm not trying to endorse Trump here, but I don't think we should always think anything Trump suggests to do is bad. Only a lot is, and some is not. Instead, we should look at each idea itself, regardless of the source, to figure out if it is good or bad.

I think the tax reform is a good example. It had some good parts and some not too good parts. But we tend to get rhetoric that it was either great or totally bad. Neither. It has some good stuff and some not good stuff.

It's the left who are being complete and utter hypocrites. Trump said NOTHING different than they did.

Exactly and most are no longer fooled by the Left.
