Anyone watching the "Left Below" episode of the Simpsons right now? Hilarious stuff, but what do you believers think about such open mocking of Christian beliefs?

Edit:

Well, it just ended and we have a few more things to discuss, among them Christian visionaries displayed as lunatics and drunks and an obviously apathetic and uncaring God. In hindsight, The Simpsons have often done such things, remember that time when Homer decided to stop going to church or the one where they joined the Movementarian cult? Lisa's Buddhist athiesm, the time Reverend Lovejoy's daughter stole from the collection plate, and so on. What do you think it says about modern society that devout Christians still watch it and love it?

The show wasn't mocking Christian beliefs, it was mocking the incredibly shallow things that go on in the name of Christian pop culture.

Overall, the show has been very supportive of Christian values.

What's not to love? Christianity Today once called it "the most Christian show" on TV and I believe they were right.

The Christians who get it love it. The ones who are offended don't get it.

The show really does paint a realistic look at the church today.

A well meaning but burnt out minister, a well meaning but often misguided or, at least overzealous Christian neighbor, a Christian woman trying to live out her faith to an unsaved family.

Some episodes, such as "Pray Anything", are almost stunning in their emphatic statements on the importance of church, of a right relationship with God.

There's a great book called "The Gospel According to the Simpsons", which talks about this in much greater detail.

I agree, The Simpsons are very supportive of true Christian values. I thought the portral of God the father was respectful and funny. I think He laughed hard when he saw it. I thought the way the writers showed the pain Jesus must feel when he sees the problems in this world most eliquently.
