My beautiful Christian daughter was about 15 and having jaw surgery. We all were nervous -- but she covers nervousness up delightfully with a smart-aleck mouth. She'd been in pre-op way too long for comfort; finally, the techs came in and pulled out arm-rest boards from the bed, attaching her IVs and cords on them. She looked like a giant t. Then they left, and we kind of stared awkwardly at each other.
Then these big silent Navy techs rushed in and whisked her away before I could even get out of my chair. From down the hall I hear -- you got it --
"Look on . . . the brighter side of life (whistle, whistle, whistle)!"
Those Navy meds don't have a great sense of humor or they didn't see Life of Brian -- but I about fell over laughing.
