  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I once marvelled at the fact my brother and sister were turning 50 and I was in my mid 30s. i wondered what i would be like when I was that old. Now i know. At 52 I now see signs of aging in my body, especially my mouth. My roots in my teeth are dying at a constant rate and so are my crowns and so I no longer have zero dental bills each year. Lately it's been a root canal one year and crown the next. Now I'm also into having root canal redos as I've had one of those already also. Thankfully everything else has been ok but...

So a week or two ago I noticed a pain in my hip. My sciatic nerve was acting up. Why? dunno. But I began to hobble around like, well, someone much older using a walker. I've gone through some mutations with my shoes and orthotics and made some progress. But sheez....

Then I had to change my diet last year. No more soda every day or all I can drink on the weekends. Time to use frozen foods instead of those in the can. My blood pressure was too high and bad cholesterol too high and poor cholesterol too low. Host of other problems.

But I'm thankful that I'm wiser and smarter than ever before and much more mature also - and have learned not to obsess or worry about friends that move in and out of my life because they take the value of my friendship very lightly. I've learned to cherish the good friends I've had. And I've grown much more mature in my Christian faith and had what I guess i can call a modest successful writing career.

Now my youngest who got his girlfriend pregnant has to make a house and home for them. Wish he had waited longer for that... yikes.

I know what you mean, although I haven't had quite the same problems as you. I am enjoying my life, and work, more than ever, and plan even more good times when I finally retire. I used to fly some years ago and am thinking about starting again. I may even buy a plane. :)

I've been a devotee of Paul C. Bragg since my early thirties and it has really paid off for me. During an annual exam I caught my doctor staring at me once. "What?", I asked. "I can't believe you are that old", he replied.

That's amazing, my birthday is also in April, the 21st but I am a few years younger. I am glad, lol.

Mine's the 23rd. I hope to retire at 80, but we'll see. I love my job.

I wish I had just a little bit of your energy. What do you contribute your long well and full of energy life to? What kind of work do you do that you love so much and why quit at 80, lol?

Like most I have had my share of health problems (legacy of ignorance), but have healed up, mostly.

The short answer is good genes, and luck. But I have been a disciple of Paul C. Bragg for many years ("Miracle of Fasting") Because of his inspiration I did quite a bit of fasting way back when. I believe the process purged some pretty nasty stuff from my body that wouldn't or couldn't come out any other way. It was a grueling and painful process but once over I experienced health, strength, vitality, mental clarity, and peace of mind that I had never known before, or even thought was possible. I highly recommend it.

I manage rental property, meaning that I do everything from mopping the floors to remodeling. What make it enjoyable is that I have complete autonomy without responsibility (for profitability). I plan all jobs and do the work as well. It is physically demanding at times, but that's good exercise. I have a power woodshop in the building (the real "man-cave"). The property is large with many trees so I get to do lots of yard work and landscaping as well. I love raking leaves in the fall.

I get a house to live in as well, right on the property. I have remodeled it over the years (my employer pays for all materials). I also remodeled the second floor into a very cozy apartment that I keep the rent from. So, no mortgage, no rent to pay, or costly maintenance.

My employer also provides 100 percent of my health insurance, and a very good policy too.

I'll likely retire at 80 as there are things I want do that I can't do if I'm still working.

Thanks for asking. I enjoy sharing my story.

Thank you for sharing. You have a joy that is contagious when reading your life's journey. I hope it continues in such a positive way even after you retire. God has taken very good care of you.:) Blessings
