In John 17, Jesus intercedes for the church and is very encouraging. Although it isn't what is traditionally referred to as the "Jesus prayer", it should be IMO.
John 17
Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He [a]should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. 4I have glorified You on the earth. OK. So, thus far, we've had reprints of 1) the Lord's Prayer, 2) the Jesus Prayer, and 3) the Sinner's Prayer.

Apparently, it was what's called the Sinner's Prayer that you were interested in, Lily.

The Sinner's Prayer is nothing official, Lily. It's just something somebody made up for the purpose.

A person who was once faithful but then fell away from God and then, later, repented...is not the person that the Sinner's Prayer was intended for anyway. In the situation just described, any sincere prayer of repentance and commitment, in one's own words, is what's called for.
