So what do you think of the Jerry Springer Show?

Is this what you get when a society throws off all Biblical morality?

The West knows that faithful relationships are the bedrock of society but has by and large refused to live according to Judeo-Christian revelation.

So you after you've got our attention after the entertainment of a vicarious bearpit, Jerry feels he can offer us a homily about trust, faithfulness and honesty.
It's just such a unbelievable contrast. I couldn't make out anything on the last show I watched - just bleeps as the 'guests' threw themselves into each other with arms flailing.

Put me in mind of those Roman gladiator games where most of the audience just bayed for more blood, but just some got sick of it and decided to seek out some sort of better way of life.

Hypocrisy and lust for ratings or is God still speaking to us, even though we don't read His word?

Jerry Springer is not a barometer of America's values, nor are the people who appear on it in any way indicative of what's really going on here.

The whole thing is nothing more than a carefully engineered circus sideshow.

If anyone doesn't believe that these people are hand-selected for maximum entertainment value, and then coached to amp up the "drama," they're either extremely gullible or extremebly oblivious.

I agree with all of these comments.
It's just that I wonder at Jerry's "final thought".
It just seems to clash with the voyeurism, callousness and salaciousness of the rest of the show.
No Christian could object to the sentiments expressed in his "thought".
Does it reflect some kind of new morality in opposition to those selfish "if it feels good then do it" attitudes of the 80s?
If it does, who's decision is it - the producer's or is it a reflection of the unease of modern society as it searches for certainties.

That show is crazy as hell. ROFLOL!!! :D
My parents don't approve of my watching.
Especially my mother who called it "ghetto".
I have watched a few episodes of it so far and found it very weird and crazy. I don't watch it that much, only sometimes. One of the most hilarious parts of the show is when they call on Reverend Schnoor!!!! :D
But with that said, I agree that the show is very wild in it's content-I am surprised it's still running to this day...with it's content, I mean! :o :o

I used to watch it. I found myself getting really judgemental & didn't like the way it made me so I avoid the show now. Besides, I wonder if most of it is fake.
There's this show on VH1 that went behind the scenes...I wonder if it's scripted all the way, as well.

Funny that - I don't react that way.
I didn't think I would but I feel SO SAD for those people. They are doubly exploited in a way. They are suffering - their situations are disastrous and then they have to suffer again in front of millions, having their deepest woundings actually displayed and often incurred in front of the most callous and unsympathetic audience.
Then you get the homily. It's too late for any of the guests. They are usually past the point of no return - are they heading for hell anyway or are they already in it? All the hear is Jerry's impossible recipes for relationship success - indeed impossible for these emotionally disfunctional characters.
Are any of them proud? Even the adulturers and harlots and pimps seem pathetic and insecure (and that goes for those in the audience, who are indeed judgemental and hypocritical)

I love the Jerry Springer show!! A lady my mom knows was on it one time. She said that they told her to do most of the stuff. Her and her sister fault on the show but in real life they wasn't even fighting. haha!!

It is mainly just entertainment and a comedy for me. Most talk shows are fake any ways.

I've just watched the Jeremy Kyle show for the first time, basically because it's been in the news and lost its sponsorship.
It's just about being personally humiliated. Are those lie-detector tests really accurate enough for the presenter to harangue the 'guests'.
He acts and talks like God at the final judgement. Maybe that's what the final judgement will be like with all our secret sins (thoughts and actions) strung out to dry on the washing-line for all to see.
Or does grace mean that we don't come under that exposure or shame?
