  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The internet is a blessing.

The Internet is Everything and Everything is the Internet.

/joke.

The internets is truly an excellent tool that has set free the minds of countless hoards of normals, casuals, neckbeards, bronies, anonymous, and every other funny name for people the internets comes up with.

It's also been for me and many others a mind-expanding experience in all lieu of all the craziness, as your able to intimately view other people's opinions and challenge your own and ultimately become a better person.

It's allowed many people with opinions that they originally thought no one else had to start communities were a bunch of glorious wierdos can bask in their wierdom, for good measure.

With that, we Christians, no matter the denomination, can converse with each other and share the Gospel in ways that are much better than anything that's been done on TV.

So yeah, I agree.

I believe this is true as well, and here's why:

The internet is like a coveted gemstone that companies and organizations from all around the world would love to have control over. For the most part they have been content to simply use it to further their sales and marketing campaigns because this is such an impossible endeavour.

The government desires take control over the internet too, by means of "Internet 2". This would be catastrophic to free-learning and many other social freedoms we enjoy because of the fact that the internet appeared so quickly. The internet is NEW, and I belong to the first generation that has had casual commercial access to it. The fact that the internet exploded out of nowhere in the early 90s and was widespread by 1999 means it was was completely unexpected and impossible to anticipate with any kind of politically driven preemptive attack. As such governing bodies still struggle to gain legal ordinance in cyberspace; it's forever going to be no-man's-land. The most they could do was create a new enterprise in regards to corporate expansion and have created what is now known as "Internet Service Providers".

As such, the internet is not in the best interest of the corporations and media outlets that dominate the United States and government. When there is any kind of power that is not in the best interest of its ruling authorities it is usually terminated (Red scare, anyone?)...in other words the formation of the internet was so fast that they didn't even know what hit them.

Who would dare try to shut it down? It would be chaos. Now we are reaching a new generation that will be about a decade younger than most of the people who used the internet before (it was mostly marketers and teens in the 90s and 00s), meaning children in elementary school may have the ability to learn anything they want outside of the rudiments of public schools and we may see a new age of minds that are allowed to work to their fullest potential.

6th grade chemistry professors, anyone?
