  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Alright, so I now have the new Castanets album -- not What Kind of Cure, which was the first album that was rereleased this year, that I thought was the new album. I found First Light's Freeze on Soulseek along with the new Deerhoof, both of which I'm pretty excited about.

I am going to start listening now.

John Davis, Duvall, and Violet Burning! Wow, that's quite an event. I think I've confessed my love for all three of those on here at one point or another.

And in listening to the new Castanets album, I've decided it's pretty good. It is different though. Not too different, but there is some more instrumentation and such.

All three were amazing. The Violets opened, which I saw as a travesty, but all three played fairly equal-timed sets. Duvall headlined, and they played for a littl longer than John Davis or TVB, but all three sounded great. I talked to Michael Pritzl for a bit after their set as well....super nice guy. It's been too long since I've seen that band.

I couldn't get into it at first, but "Pelican Narrows" jumped out at me, so I'm planning on going back and giving everything a fair listen.

I just got the "8.21 a blue bunny compilation" cd in the mail (courtesy of ebay) and it's very excellent. It's got exclusive tracks from artists like Sufjan Stevens and Soul Junk and has a lot of quality artists that I've never heard of before. check check it out.

it is from 2000 and rather out of print. but i wouldn't think it would be too hard to find online.

i've heard a little bit by manitoba before, but it never really struck me (that could be because it's been a long time since i've heard them though & my taste is ever changing & expanding, though, so i might like it more now?). the songs i heard from the milk of human kindness were a lot of fun, though.

Skinny Fists to Heaven was my first (and remains my favorite) Godspeed album. I love it.

The Headphones album was a little disapponting, but there are some pretty decent songs. I feel like he should have mixed up the sound of the synths from song-to-song, as a lot of them sound the same. Either way, Natural Disaster is a great song.

And I really enjoyed that Soulseeking article. I am guilty of falling into that same problem, and I am completely conscious of the fact that I am just trying to stay up to date than really enjoy things. I'm really trying to get better, because I think on some level, it makes me as guilty of being part of the whole American desire to have a superfluous amount of possessions and take it all for granted. Recently, I've been trying to download albums by artists that I enjoy or that come as recommendations from people whose judgements I trust, rather than simply downloading for the sake of downloading.
