I never heard Girls Can Tell, so I wouldn't know.

i didn't mean you specifically. i just meant that most people i've heard talk about "gimme fiction" have specifically compared it to "kill the moonlight."

i'm listening to jimmy eat world's "static prevails" right now, and i had totally forgotten about this album. i listened to "clarity" so much that i really neglected this one. it's pretty good stuff, though.

I did the same sort of thing. I started listening to Jimmy Eat World when Clarity came out and a little after Bleed American came out I bought Static Prevails. I don't think I ever really gave it a good listen though. I still have it somewhere. I may have listened to it three or four times. I'll have to give it another shot sometime.

The new New Pornographers is kind of bland too, in the same way that Gimme Fiction isn't as exciting and rollicking as Kill the Moonlight.

Which new New Pornographers album are you refering to? Electric Version? or the one that hasn't released yet, but (apperantly) leaked online recently?

Regardless, I'm seeing them live on Friday, and I'm really really looking forward to seeing Neko Case in person.

The leaked one. Electric Version is just like Mass Romantic. The new one, Twin Cinema, is a lot more subdued.

Ok. Just got home from the concert. And let me tell you-- Neko Case has to be about the most beautiful woman ever.

I really liked the new songs they played-- maybe they translate better live than on album.

FYHCYWLAP wasn't that great, and DCW has just a slight edge on TBWTAS because they don't let that other guy sing as much. This is all IMHO, of course.
