The incredibly strange MacFall

Hello. As some of you have probably figured out from hanging out with me in the politics and philosophy boards, I am a very unusual person when it comes to those things. However, I also have a mundane side. Like you, I never tie my shoes until eating nine lemons each morning, I brush my teeth with laundry detergent, I only do every other button on my shirts, I blink in a Fibonacci sequence, and I act as if the floor is lava for two minutes any time I hear or read the word "quixotic". Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get to higher ground. But I'll be back to answer your questions.

Part-time economics professor, part-time novelist.

A small house on a large plot of land in New Hampshire, within sight of the mountains.

Does our humanity come from being body and soul, just body, or just soul?

Both. I believe that the capacity for developing metacognition, which I consider to be a part of the soul, is sufficient only to make a person a rational being; that our DNA is what makes us human. But the body by itself, in the absence of a soul (mind, will and emotions), is no different than a quantity of amoebas of equal weight.

I was born with it, and since it's purely reflexive I have no idea.

It's too large to be expressed in any human language. (I'm actually serious about that, large number theory fascinates me even though I really suck at math).

I think the correct answer is "infinity minus pi".

But I'm not sure. Math is not my forte. Or even my mezzoforte.

Three-way tie between music, writing, and rhetoric.

...and that's about all I'm good at, actually.

How do writing and rhetoric differ?

 

[MacFall]

Rhetoric is using language to communicate effectively by engaging people's reason, morals, and emotions. When I said "writing" I meant writing fiction, which doesn't really fall under the category of rhetoric.

Offline? Not to my knowledge. But obviously some on the internets do.

Only the one we have now, if someone got the ability to switch it off. They would be able to get millions of information, media, and porn addicts to do whatever they want. Or at least for a while, until Anonymous found them and guillotined them.
