  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Obveously there is something going on with Global Warming and if we don't do something about it our children will suffer for our ignorance. right? So why not make it madatory for people do some of the things we need to do to cause less damage? Most people just are not going to take it upon themselves to do it. To use less energy in thier home or business. Why do they just not come up with some madatory thing we have to do? So that we can save this world?

For every scientist that claims that "global warming" exists, there's one that provides proof to discredit it. One of the leading proponents, who was an intial signer of the call for global warming, is now calling it a myth.

When you decide to impose your belief on anyone else, you are taking away someone else's right to their opinion, to their beliefs, to their decisions. You have to be very careful, because someone else can end up making all your decisions for you...and that's not freedom.

I don't know if you realize this or not, but thirty (30) years ago, scientists were not talking about global warming; they were talking about global cooling.

Time and Newsweek did big spreads on the subject of the world freezing over.

Granted, science is always evolving. We are always learning new things, and perhaps, we have learned an awful lot about the environment in thirty years. Then again, if scientists were wrong then, who is to say that they are not wrong now?

If the truth be told, the doctrine of global warming is really a veiled attack against western capitalism. Some of the biggest polluters in the world are emerging nations in Africa and Asia; yet the Kyoto Protocol gives these countries a pass.

Besides, if global warming is as bad as Al Gore says, then why does he use 20 times more electricity at his mansion than does the average American? If he expects for the rest of the country to cut back, then should not he?

i think it's crazy for anyone to deny global warming, when the evidence is hard core clear.

as for your suggestion of making some thing mandatory.. i agree 100%! i think that we should require all new homes to have water preservation toilets and shower heads, maybe allow government incentives on environment friendly light bulbs, give even more tax breaks on those with hybrid vehicles. encourage pulic transportation. and find better, environmental friendlier sources of energy. :) ... i think that would be a good start :)

then CFC's came around more, hence, really starting what is now global warming.

When Al Gore, John Kerry, and the rest of the pretend-green politicians stop using SUV's, stop flying jets, stop cutting down trees for their political headquarters, stop supporting roads being paved for their constituents, and other identical things of which they accuse Bush et al, they might get an audience with me.

Until they remedy their glaring and obvious inconsistency with truth versus their own contradictory actions, they have nothing to say I'm interested in. It's junk science, a lot of what's used to support the prevailing theories.

For instance ...

When ice cubes melt, the water level goes DOWN, not up. But somehow, there's this magical power the icebergs have to cause water levels to RISE when they melt. What these so-called scientists aren't telling you, the basic scientific principle they're ignoring, is that those same icebergs - yes, the same ones which are submerged under water - are what is causing the displacement of the world's oceans. If the icebergs melted, their water density would decrease, because as any school child can tell you, water SHRINKS when its morphs from solid to liquid.

Perhaps Al Gore thinks he's now Smarter Than A Fifth-Grader.

What evidence? What if there were recent records of cold being set, how does that work into global warming?

I believe it's the next fad, nothing more.

Since when are we to be so worried about saving this dying world? Is anyone reading their bibles?

We are to be good stewards, but our focus is to be on Jesus and GOD's will for us, not if we can save a world that is heading on a colision course structured for fire by GOD.

I mean really, are people reading their bibles when they make threads like this? Since when was the Spirit-filled forum designated a general forum for topics such as this???

Anyone remember that we got souls to save and heal?

Like we didn't have CFC's in the 1950's and 1960's?

The aerosol can was invented in 1926, and became a household item after the Second World War. CFC's had been used as a propellant in these cans for several decades prior to the 1970's. So when scientists were worried about global cooling, they had this information available.

You scared me for a second there on the iceberg bit, but now that I think about it, you may be right.

The only way that you could be wrong is if the parts of the glaciers that are above water would add more displacement than the melted ice below water would reduce.

I said that because of the entire glacier, only 11 percent [on average] is above the water. The rest is submerged. Hence that old term they gave us, "the tip of the iceberg". Only a very small part of it is surfaced. The overwhelming majority of it is causing far more displacement, and the sea waters would actually recede in level.

Global warming is false. Its been proven to be fake by many of the world's top leading scientists. And Al Gore is the biggest hypocrite of them all. He flies on huge jetliners, and his house burns up more energy than the average american family. To me, this whole global warming thing is a fad. It'll die in a couple years.... then the environmentalists will be discussing something different.

Hi Guys,
Global warming is a very complex subject actually. here are some of the variables.

1, Nuclear reactive core - It has recently been found out that earth itself is a nuclear reactor, which means that our planet has an internal heating system. This theory was prompted when it was discovered that some planets are radiating about twice the energy into space as they are recieving from the Sun. See excerpt below...

Is Earth approaching meltdown?

If Earth has a natural nuclear reactor blazing away at its core, how much longer might it remain active? The question isn't merely academic. The reactor, Herndon believes, powers Earth's magnetic field, which shields its inhabitants from deadly solar radiation.
The answer is a bit worrisome. According to the simulation Herndon performed at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, about 75 percent of the uranium has been burned up in the 4.5 billion years of Earth's existence. That means the uranium sphere has shrunk from about eight miles in diameter to five miles. At the power level that Herndon regards as most likely— roughly four terawatts— he calculates that the reaction could end in 2 billion years or less. That compares unfavorably with the traditional iron-core model of Earth's interior, which by some estimates leaves us with another 4 billion years of protective shielding. "The nuclear fission reactor gives us a much shorter time frame than geophysicists have traditionally believed," says Herndon.

2. Percipatation system - does a lot itself in controlling the temperature of the planet. this is the process of clouds and rain. One scientist stated that if it weren't for this system the mean temperature of the earth would be about 140 degrees. This is a major factor.

3. Solar Activity - The heat output of the sun is not constant. Solar flares can increase the energy falling on the planets. It has been documented that commensurate with our "global warming" the polar ice caps (Carbon dioxide) on Mars have also been melting. To me this is the best indicator that the warming of both earth and Mars is due to solar activity.

4. Etc...

The fact that our temperature has only increased by a fraction of one degree to me is within the scope of natural variation of these complex variables. Athiests (Liberals) worry about the world and many other things because since there is no God - it's all up to them to solve. God is in control - so I don't worry about it.

I'm glad that there are people who care about the envirnment, air pollution is pretty bad in our society. There are many people who suffer from asthma and sinus problems. But I just don't buy into the sky-is-falling crowd who wants to turn this hoax into a big political movement.

I think you are right.

Now, there is one variable you may not have considered. Even though the volume of water may be going down, the change in volume (if it is sudden) may create tidal waves, as the displacement of water will shift to and fro. But if it is gradual, it shouldn't matter.

Wouldn't this post be more appropriate in another spot? No offense, I'm just saying.
We have discussed politics and current events on this forum before. Everything from Anna Nicole to the presidential race (which, by the way, may I recommend yet again my former boss, Mike Huckabee?).

Since this is a fellowship forum, and since not all fellowship is religious, the mods have allowed threads like this.

This global warming is the biggest scam of all time - Al Gore has the entire world backing him an our government paying for all this stuff that is not necessary.

The Bible says nothing about flooding again -

There are thousands and thousands of scientists saying this is all a scam and no one is listening to them.

Al Gore is making millions off of this - he owns the company that sells the carbon footprints junk -
Here's how it works - if you own a cat - that is $6 a year - if you have an in-law living with you - that's $12.00 a year - etc, etc - each pet you have, each family member you have that is how you determine your carbon footprint - just write a check out to Al Gore's company and he will plant a tree an you can go ahead and live your life any way you want because you have taken care of your carbon footprint for the year. Scam, scam, scam

I remember 10 years ago - we would be in an ice age by the year 2007 - well here is 2007 - guess what - we have another scam.

Look what it is doing to our young people - that little boy lost in the woods drank very little water from the river because he was afraid it would make him sick. It is all a myth.
