Incarnation: the embodiment of deity in human form
(This absolute mystery must be received Son of God/son of Mary or Christianity falls)
*In the beginning was the Word: in the unfathomable reaches of the immeasurable; the Presence of the self-existing God; uses the Name Word (human means of expression) of God as a method of the Divine Expression of the Who in the Person of the trinity.
*The Word became flesh: in the inscrutable mystery of the trinity the Son is ever the medium of self-expression. Out of the infinite distances, from the unknowable, from the method of self-expression appreciable by deity alone, to a method of self-expression understandable of the humans. This office changes not, only the method of expression.
*The Word was with God: the natural Home of the Eternal Son Who was the medium of self-expression of deity resided in the abode of the Eternal Father.
*And tabernacled among us: took up His manifest dwelling place in proximity of the human race. He stooped to an actual identification with the human race.
*And the Word was God: He was God, yet in His Person there was not all the truth concerning God, for he was with God. He was with God and yet by no means inferior to the Eternal Father, for He was god. The unity of Deity is marked by God. The diversity is marked by the Word.
*Full of grace and truth: in the loveliness (grace) and righteousness (truth) of the Man, seen by John and others, there is an outshining of the essential facts of the love and light of deity.
Phil 2:6 *emptied Himself taking the form of a servant
^Existed in the form of God, on an actual equality with God
^Position taken for the for human redemption= that of servant in human likeness
( from form of God, to human likeness. Passing from Sovereign equality to submission of subservience)
^Attitude of mind and act of will by which this change was wrought:
- in the presence of great need He abandoned His right to equality
- stooped from Infinite Expression to the confines of human life.
Set aside form of equality with God for form of submissiveness of the human to the Divine.
( A new form for manifesting the same God) ( human body expressing the human spirit)
HUMAN
- Spiritual Nature- unceasing recognition of God
- Mental Capacity- majestic dealings with all problems
- Physical Life- hunger, weariness, seasons of rest. Etc.
- Human Will- seen as actively choosing the Divine will
- Emotional Nature- tears, tenderness, rebuke, anger, (soft light to lightning)
- Intellectual Nature- perfectly balanced and wonderfully equipted
The ESSENTIALS OF DEITY
- Such Wisdom that ages have failed to understand perfectly His deep teachings.
- Such Power that thru weakness He operated the accomplishments of God
- Such Love that attempts to describe it but rob it of its fairest glory
Yet in His person is the merging of the Divine/Human
(seen denouncing Jerusalem in a voice choked with emotion and his face wet with tears)
