Instead of drying laundary in the dryer, I have a laundary rack and I air-dry it. It saves money and it's better for the environment.

On the same front, I always set the washing machine on cold/cold, never hot/cold. The hot cycle uses a ridiculous amount of electricity.

I ride my bicycle as much as I can, thus minimizing the amount of money that I have to spend on gas.

I take the bus or walk instead of owning a car.
I buy everything in bulk, clip coupons, and use save.ca.
My friends and I have clothing swaps instead of buying new outfits, or we go to value village.
I have two seperate bank accounts, one for saving and one for spending. I only carry the "spending" debit card on me, it keeps me from unknowingly spending away my savings.
My friends and I made an agreement to exchange home-made gifts for birthdays and such, and they always turn out to be so much better than store-bought gifts.

change jar; I try to empty my purse everyweek. It really adds up!

paying for most everything by cash

thrift shopping; I try to find high end things that are barely used or gently used- clothing , furniture, etc... Also, I'm quite into finding great pieces of furniture and refinishing them myself.

couponing

investing, i've put money each month into an investment fund for as long as i've been working and it's really REALLY done well lately. I want to continue this and also look into branching out. This is great for building wealth over time.

I also have a change jar and it's fun to see how many dollars I get when I cash it in. Since it took a while for me to get those dollars, I try to spend it on items that have a long-term value.

Also, I like the fact that your investing. In terms of percentage, how much do you set aside monthly?

I put in 10% each month. My dad stressed to me that this was important to get into that habit and stay in the habit of investing while you are young and then continue for the rest of your working career- start when you first start to work. I don't even notice this, b/c it's always what i've done with my paycheck each month- so I know what it is to live on what i bring home w/o what i've invested.

So...how do you save money? Even if it's just pennies on the dollar or pence on the pound, how do you save 'em?

I save it by restraining myself from spending. Other thing I try to do is make money online (a slow going process for sure).
