The Hunger Games, reading or watching order?

When reading or watching The Hunger Games, which order should one go through the four in?

Why is this series so popular?

The Hunger Games is the first one that came out. I read it & saw the movie. I do not know which ones come after even tho I saw the movies, so sorry I can’t be more help there.

They are popular b/c it’s a ‘last one standing’ story, a strong female lead that is still feminine (that isn’t forced & turns men into buffoons like a lot of more recent stuff), romance, & apocalyptic sci-fi / fantasy type setting. So it appeals to a wide range of people - action buffs, women, fantasy / sci-fi fans, etc.

The order of the original trilogy is:

The Hunger Games
Catching Fire
Mockingjay

In theory one could read the prequel first, but my guess is that it would ruin some of the discovery aspects of the trilogy.
