The Holidays and grief

My father died in June and I'm starting to feel sad again about Christmas coming and him not being there. I am also missing my mother and sister who have passed at this time of year.

Is anyone else being effected by the holidays this way?

Yep, I lost my brother two years ago and around times when family is together it's hard not having him there with us.

This is the third year since my dad died and so far it's the worst. I don't know why. But I am struggling this season and I usually love Christmas.

I am also struggling this year. I know that I should be remembering the true reason for the season, but I am really missing all the loved ones I have lost this year...

It was an extremely difficult Christmas this year. My family missed my brother so terribly. It was compounded by the fact that our football team played on Christmas day (The Philadelphia Eagles) and he was a huge Eagles fan, as the rest of our family is. He is irreplacable, and the loss is great.

I am not really struggling with it this year, but have in the past. I lost my dad in 2003. For the last couple years it was a struggle to get through the holidays. Just remember your family is with you during this holiday season. You carry them in your memory so they will always be with you. I know it is hard because you have suffered much loss. Yes, I feel sad this year. I miss my grandma. I keep remembering special touches she used to put on Christmas. I think of her in heaven with Grandpa. I bet they are having the best time.
