MEM - Water & BLOOD - (Jesus and the Hebrew Alphabet)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Many things about the MEM speaks of REBELLION and the need of the BLOOD of CHRIST to CLEANSE it from us.
MEM is the 13th letter, the number of rebellion, but also the number of ONENESS and LOVE (the gematria of both)
It is used for the number 40 - the suffering that rebellion brings or the time of trial/penence to pay for rebellion. But in its final or sofit form it is 500, 5 being the number of grace. It is related to the hebrew word for water "mayim". It can be symbolic of both water and blood (liquid).
The letter mem is used as a prefix to mean "out of" or "from"....maybe because the Lord created "OUT OF" the water.
2Pe 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
It has a gematria of 80, the same as "the night" first used in the following verse:
Deu 9:24-25 Ye have been REBELLIOUS against the LORD from the day that I knew you. Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty* NIGHTS, as I fell down [at the first]; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
(also 40 +40 = 80)
There is another word with the gematria of 80 which speaks of our deliverance from rebellion, translated "stretched out arm":
Exd 6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I [am] the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a STRETCHED OUT ARM, and with great judgments..
The MEM is spelled the same as mayim(water or sea) also a symbol of rebellious mankind. CHAOS, DARKNESS, TUMULT are all words descriptive of the "SEA". As the earth was brought forth from the "SEA" and was vain, empty and dark, so we too are brought forth from the "SEA" of mankind and we too are found in "vanity, darkness, and chaos(rebellion)" and we are cleansed by the BLOOD and WATER of CHRIST and brought into the LIGHT!
