  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've read the book, and last year I was blessed to meet Brother Yun on a trip he made to Australia.

The amazing accounts in his book are inspiring and life-changing (well they have been for me, anyway). The humility with which he accepts his suffering is an enormous challenge to us who live in virtually persecution free countries.

And the miracles that God worked in his life... well you have to read his story to believe them (and when you read the story, you do believe them).

He says near the end of the book something like "When you pray for the Church in China, do not pray that the persecutions would cease, but that our backs would be strengthened". What an understanding of suffering for the gospel that I as a westerner have difficulty fathoming.

The Heavenly Man won Christian Book of the year, and well deserved it. I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone who has not read it.
