The "happy trees" painter guy

Does anyone else remember the guy on PBS who did an instruction painting show? He was like an ultra-nice hippy guy with brown curly hair. I remember watching the show in the late 1980's, but I don't know how long it had been on at that point.

But, let me tell you, the show was really addictive. Not only were the paintings pastoral and relaxing images from nature, but the guy's voice and personality were equally as calming and therapeutic.

Hi. I had forgotten about him. I believe his name was Bob Ross. He was a real mellow guy. Yeah, that was an interesting show. Thinking about it now brings a smile to my face.

I remember him, but only saw a couple shows. . . I think I recall he painted some nice pine trees and I noted how it was done. . . (still, I'm not much of an artist)

I also found it amazing that he got those paintings done in less than a half-hour... he made it look SO EASY!

He's still on every once in a while. I just watched him about a month ago.

His name is Bob Ross and the show is The Joy of Painting. He also has dvds and a line of art supplies.

I loved watching that show. He made you believe that you could be an artist...until I tried and my trees were not happy at all.

I even saw him on Mtv once...making "fluffy white clouds." They also spoofed him on an episode of the Power Puff Girls.

I always wondered if he was half Black because he had a big ol' afro. I also wondered if he took part in recreational marijuana prior to painting on camera. He was calm alright...a little too calm. (J/K)
