As you know, there are four kinds of people in this world.

Those who hear the word, but do not understand it, so that another philosophy will take over.

Those who hear the word, understand maybe a part of it, but not enough to overcome "persecution", as their faith is shallow.

Those who hear the word, who understand it a little was well, but do not overcome the worries of life and the temptation of riches, maybe not because they had a shallow faith just to fit in, but because they deceive themselves (outdone by conquering plants).

Then there are those who hear the word, and understand it to the extent, that it may produce fruit.

I am still perplexed how people get baptised, but then fail to understand the rest of the Bible, clearly, not even the baptism has been understood!

I even met a priest, who didn't believe in God. So you could even be a priest, probably studied the word for a few years in college, and still fall for another philososphy.

But granted, I will tell you, despite having read the Bible for 14 years, I was not revealed the Man of Sin until recently.

Let no man deceive you by any means, for that Day shall not come, unless there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,
who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sitteth as God in the temple of God, showing himself to be God.

Brethren, you know what the Temple of God is. Shall we hasten his coming?

Can we make the Seed grow faster?

I feel like we are referring to the Parable of the Four Soils.

We scatter, the seeds fall where they may. It is up to God, not us, where they shall fall and how/if they grow.
HUH?

We do not scatter the seeds. Only the sower. We receive the seed. But clearly something is being told here about the possibility for growth.

Alright, to clear things up, here is the Parable of the Soils.

DateMay 5, 2024
VerseMatthew 13:1-9 (NIV): "That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables, saying: ‘A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.’"
ExplanationThe Parable of the Four Soils, also known as the Parable of the Sower, is a well-known teachings of Jesus recorded in Matthew 13, Mark 4, and Luke 8. In this parable, Jesus uses the image of a farmer sowing seeds to explain the various ways that the Word of God is received by people. The four types of soil in the parable represent different hearts or receptivity to the Word of God. Here's a brief explanation of each type:
1. The Path: The seeds that fell on the path represent those who hear the Word of God, but the evil one comes and snatches it away.
2. The Rocky Places: The seeds that fell on the rocky places represent those who hear the Word of God with joy but have no root. They believe for a while, but when trials or persecutions come, they fall away.
3. The Thorns: The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the Word of God but allow the worries and riches of this world to choke it. They may still have some faith, but it is not their top priority.
4. The Good Soil: The seeds that fell on the good soil represent those who hear the Word of God and understand it, and bear fruit.
Societal RelevanceIn our world today, this verse remains true, as each of the four soils represents a different type of Christian.

1. The Path: In modern society, this could be someone who hears about Christianity but is not interested, or someone who is exposed to it but does not allow it to take root in their heart. For example, someone who attends a religious event out of social obligation but does not truly engage with the message.
2. The Rocky Places: In modern society, this may be somebody who is passionate about their faith initially but struggles to maintain it when faced with challenges. For example, a young person who grows up in a Christian family but later rejects their faith when they encounter new ideas or peer pressure.
3. The Thorns: In today’s world, this could represent someone who prioritizes their career, family, or other worldly pursuits over their relationship with God. For example, a successful businessperson who goes to church on Sundays but spends the rest of the week focused on making money and achieving success.
4. The Good Soil: This soil represents a Christian who actively seeks to grow in their faith, learns from the Bible, and puts God first in their life. For example, a person who reads the Bible regularly, prays daily, and actively seeks to apply God's teachings to their life such as helping others who are poor or disenfranchised.

Of course we do or the Kingdom to come, Jesus' only gospel, would be unknown to many who don't peruse scripture for themselves (or even do).
Brother, by the time the seed grows to fruition, you will know that it is not you doing any of the works.

But I think understanding why these soils are different, might help us in hastening his coming, don't you think brother? :)

Absolutely, as I said we only scatter the seeds, we don't determine how they grow.

If we are to put God's will ahead of our own, why would we want to reverse that and take it upon ourselves to hurry His will? That is putting our will first. Original sin. Even Jesus said He didn't know the time nor would dare to tamper.

Well, if you are baptised then you know, of course I was baptised without knowing, that as we die with Christ we shall live with him.

AS.. WE.. DIE..
WE.. SHALL.. LIVE

Let's take it one more time

"As we die, we shall live"

You are not all completely dead yet :tearsofjoy:

Yes! Stop quenching His Holy Spirit. The flesh fights against the Spirit. Walk in His Spirit daily so that we do not fall into flesh driven temptations. The seed will grow with Living Waters!
Blessings.

I think that, because this is a daily temptation, unless a person forfeits his pride, and everything else that he owns or has ever worked for, and even the dirty clothes, that he is used to wearing, realizing of course, that his sin, however well forgiven, will never work as a testimony to Christ, the conclusion can only be, that unless we suffer the work of the Spirit, we will "never marry".

Jephthah was a zealous man, but he added to the word, which caused him to suffer.

I had the opportunity to ask a Catholic friend, not that the denomination actually matters when you understand the parables, what he thought of the soil parable. I'm not sure he figured I was talking about the parable or just asked a question about soil quality, due to language barriers, but nonetheless he gave a good answer. Soil quality is determined by the minerals in the soil. So how do you raise the quality? "I don't know, you have to change the soil."

I think that in the parable we can see that the path lacks soil completely. The seed has nowhere to take root.

The next soil is shallow, and the roots are too small.

The next soil isn't shallow, but it has seeds of thornbushes.

If we say, that the soil comes from the body, full of minerals, we can see that:

the path represent those who find it folly to die for the gospel, so as to make any room for the seed

the shallow ground those who do did not find the meaning of dying for the gospel - they did the shallow acts, but not the acts of the heart

the good soil with the bad seeds - has died well enough for the seed to take root but is mislead by conquering spirits. That is didn't develop their discerning ability. Of course the worries of the world and the allures of riches is one level of deception, but another one is a promised hell and a promised heaven, from a works based religion.

Thus the quality of the soil in this parable is determined to the degree to which things are dead. The body and the bad seeds.

Come to think of it, the Seeds of the Father are his Words, but the seeds of Satan are his words. Really where people do not understand the difference between these words is where they tumble and fall, are broken and snared, and being captured.
