  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am from the Glasgow myself so I thought I would drop in a post :)

On the Belle and Sebastian subject I was at the free gig in the botanic gardens that was on a few weeks ago it was rather enjoyable as was all the west end festivel.

What's the deal with those underground trainline things in the Botanic Gardens?
Yes they were used many years ago. I reckon you can find out some info if you search google for hidden glasgow.
Welcome to the forums

Right you lot, this afternoon I went for a pleasant stroll along the Kelvin and in the Botanic gardens. I took my digi camera along especially to show some of you the stuff I was talking about earlier. Are you paying attention TTT and KiltedStranger? I probably should have made the pics a bit smaller but Chairman Miaow needs feeding.

Well aren't you guys in for a treat. I've been browsing for info on these tunnels in the botanics (not that I'm gettin obsessive about this or anything) and found this page: http://www.hiddenglasgow.com/rail/botanicgardens.htm. Crackin photos!

I also found these maps attached on the forums of hiddenglasgow.com. Turns out there are unused rails tunnels everywhere, and apparently the British Rail Board have put them up for sale!

cheers,
Andy

or just hold illegal raves in it ^_^ (which is apparently what's happenning in the Yorkhill tunnel!)

Oooo! Glowstick anyone? Er, I mean theres never a police officer when you need one, eh?

And I agree, very nice pics. Didn't know there was anywhere inside Glasgow that was capable of looking that pretty. Once again I am astounded by my lack of knowledge about a place I've lived in since my birth. (Glasgow, not the Botanic tunnels before anyone decides to get smart :p )
