Benefits of salvation can be only obtained by the Holy Spirit. By the Spirit, Christ gives Himself to us. We cannot come to relationship to the Father and Christ except through the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit justifies us in our consciousness and testifies of our adoption as children. He pours out the love of God into our hearts, gives us peace and joy, and delivers us from the law, the flesh, and from sin & death. He is the Comforter and Advocate who defends our cause, protects and supports us. Remains with us always, comforting us and praying for us.
Holy Spirit binds all the believers into one body and builds them into one temple, a dwelling place of God. He guarantees the Heavenly inheritance and will one day effect their resurrection and glorification.
In short, Christ and all His benefits, the love of the Father, and the grace of the Son, become our portion only in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
That itself makes the Holy Spirit a Gift.
