Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. Now abide faith, hope and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8;13

Let us not lose heart in doing good. Galatians 6:9

With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men. Ephesians 6:7

But we all, with open face beholding
as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are

to glory, even as by the spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:7

(For we walk by faith, not by sight)

Not because I desire a gift: but I de-
sire fruit that may abound to your ac-

We are told that we should eat more fruit! I love bananas and strawberrys!

We certainly need to show more 'spiritual fruit', in our lives.

What is fruit?

How do we develop the 'Fruit of the Spirit', in us?

Is there anything we can do to produce more 'Fruit of the Spirit', in us? :yum:
The "Fruit" of the spirit is a place where God wants all of us to be. It is where a believer shares the nature and wisdom of Jesus.

The key to developing the Fruit of The Spirit is love and trust. We can not walk as Jesus did without deep love and trust.

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

QB...I have not read any of the other replies, so if this has already been said, please forgive!

First, we cannot, and will not, produce any of the Fruit of the Spirit unless we are walking in the Spirit, which is why Paul commands us to walk in the Spirit in Galatians...

Galatians 5:16
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall by no means fulfill the lust of the flesh.

The word for "walk" is in the present active participle, meaning it is a command. Then he goes on to talk about the Fruit of the Spirit. This makes more sense when we look at what walking in the Spirit means...amidst the so much over-spirtualized version of the meaning.

Walking in the Spirit means that we do the exact opposite of walking in the flesh...instead of minding (thinking about the desires of the flesh and how to fulfill them) the flesh, we mind the Spirit (thinking about the desires of the Spirit of God and how to fulfill them). What does the Spirit of God desire? That we walk in obedience to God...what does God desire? What He commands us to do.

What does He command us to do...walk in love towards all men.

1 John 3:23
And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.

Paul couches it in another way...

Galatians 6:7-10
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

If we are walking in the Spirit, the terminology in Greek means that we are not only thinking about ways to fulfill the desires of the Spirit, but we are doing so affectionately...that is, from the heart. In modern terms, this is what I think God is telling us...

Walking in the Spirit means that we are actively looking for opportunities (affectionately) to do good to people, we are LOOKING for opportunities to love on people, especially those who are of the household of the faith. When we are first stepping out in faith to look for someone to love on, someone who needs help, we are "getting our feet wet" in fulfilling God's commandment in the New Covenant. When we do this, God will begin to lead us into other opportunities where He can show Himself God to people (healing someone through you, for example)...then it comes to pass that you are being led by the spirit...

Romans 8:14
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Not all those who have experienced the new birth are following after God, they are not being led by His Spirit, as sad as that is.

Any ways...walk in the Spirit and the Fruit of the Spirit will "naturally" supernaturally begin to manifest in your life...

The fruit of the Holy Spirit flows from love. Only as we live in God,abide in Christ and are energised by the Holy Spirit, can we grow and bear more fruit that will glorify Him!
